Today's CDs (3/13)

Radiohead -- Kid A
Velvet Underground -- Velvet Underground (third album)
Feelies -- Crazy Rhythms
Stooges -- Fun House
Polvo -- Celebrate the New Dark Age
Mission of Burma -- Vs.
Gomez -- In Our Gun

Last night saw Secret Machines (good), Explosions in the Sky (very good) and Trail of Dead (excellent) at the Bowery here in NYC. Trail of Dead weren't very tight, but it was lots of fun. Judging by the crowd reaction, "Baudelaire" should be released as a single. Let's hope Interscope are smart enough to realize this. It's a great track with a huge amount of potential.

For some reason I felt like a Rory Gallagher marathon was in order. Rory was one of the most underrated rockers that ever lived. He's sorely missed:

Rory Gallagher - Rory Gallagher
Rory Gallagher - Blueprint
Rory Gallagher - Photo Finish
Rory Gallagher - Deuce
Rory Gallagher - Jinx
Rory Gallagher - Against the Grain
Rory Gallagher - Defender
Rory Gallagher - Calling Card
Rory Gallagher - Tattoo
Rory Gallagher - Top Priority

Beck - One Foot In The Grave
Phish - Billy Breathes
Talking Heads - True Stories
R.E.M. - Life's Rich Pageant
Agents of Good Roots - Where'd You Get That Vibe?

Friday I saw Robert Randolph & The Family Band. This guy plays amazing pedal steel guitar and the rest of the band is pretty good as well.

Listened to today:

Will Oldham - "Joya" (this was recently reissued, in case anybody missed it on the first 'go round')

Other things I'm listening to this week:

Songs:Ohia - "Didn't It Rain" (This album really picks up by the end.)

...Trail of Dead - "Source Tags & Codes" (They're playing in Montreal Friday, but I don't think I'll make it.)

Mirah - "Cold Cold Water" (Sooooooo good, it makes me sad that I didn't go see her last month when I had a chance. I am lame.)

Scout Niblett - "Sweet Heart Fever" (Cat Power meets PJ Harvey, sort of. Highly recommended.)

Damien Jurado - "I Break Chairs"

Extra Glenns - "Martial Arts Weekend" (John from Mountain Goats and Franklin Bruno -- excellent so far.)

Mountain Goats – "All Hail West Texas"
