"Inna Gadda da Vida" Iron Butterfly - crikey, how long does this thing need to be? You can't even understand the words...

Inna gadda da vida, honey
Don't you know that I'm lovin' you
Inna gadda da vida, baby
Don't you know that I'll always be true
Oh, won't you come with me and take my hand
Oh, won't you come with me and walk this land
Please, take my hand...
**muffled** Let me tell ya now...
-Repeat-
**15 minute instrumental**
-Repeat-

This is a pet peeve for me. Since my fave style of music is punk or punk poppy stuff, I really like a song that is short and to the point. The perfect pop song to me is no longer than 3:30. Seems there are plenty of songs that would have been a lot better if they'd been edited a bit.
Having said that, there are certain albums that I can't imagine having shorter songs on it. Talk Talk's "Spirit of Eden" and most electronica I listen to.

I'm probably gonna get flamed for this, but:
Kashmir by Led Zepplin is way too long, mainly because it's so repetitive
Whole Lotta Love, also by Zep, could do without that middle freak out section
Basically, a lot of classic rock could do with some prudent editing.
and now for the one that will get me crucified:
Hey Jude. Any artist could extend the closing chorus of pretty much any song for several redundant minutes, but only the Beatles could get people to think it's epic.

Anything by Underworld. Don't get me wrong, I think they're brilliant - but in my opinion, they just don't seem to know when to end a track.

Iron Maiden - "The Clansman"
Basically it's Braveheart set to Heavy Metal - but it is too long and repeats certain parts too much (beats them into the ground)!
It is a GREAT song, but too long and repetitive.
