Grand Theft Auto Miami and 4 In Development

Grand Theft Auto Miami and 4 In Development
Anyone who follows videogames knows that when a game makes the big time, like say...Grand Theft Auto III, a sequel is bound to happen. And granted, GTA3 IS the third in a series, GTA4 is naturally inevitable. Well, guess what? We have heard from good sources that Rockstar and DMA already have begun madly working on a follow-up to Grand Theft Auto III, called Grand Theft Auto Miami, which -- shockingly! -- takes place in none other than the lovely warm beaches and streets of Miami, homes of the Cuban mafia and drug smugglers abandon. That should appear on PS2 by year's end 2002. Smart and sweet. It's supposed to be more of an add-on, rather than a full-fledged sequel. Boy, that'll sell like, erm, gangbusters...

Not only that, but DMA is hard at work on Grand Theft Auto IV, the proper sequel to GTA3, and that should be complete by year's end 2003. Sounds good to us. We're still playing GTA3 and having a load of fun.
YES... I'd take a GTA3 expansion! Word over on the IGN boards is that this will be a standalone game, you won't really need GTA3 to play it... But it's being considered an expansion because they'll use the exact same engine and artwork from the first game, but just make it in a new city(miami) and with new characters with new missions. Although that could be compeltely wrong cause most people on IGN are 12. Hopefully since its being produced quickly and using exsisting inovations it'll be a cheaper game. I'd love to be able to pick it up for 34.99 But who am i kidding.. on the reputation of the last game i'd buy it for 60$

My God, do I hate the IGN boards. I used to go there once in a while to ask a question about a game or get some info. But it has become painfully apparent that the people there are nothing but social outcasts with zero tact or understanding of human communication.

It really shouldn't bother me what some pre-pubescent jackass says on the internet.... but it does and it just makes me want to kill!

I would be happy with an expansion type game. The engine for III was pretty solid and there is no reason not to use it again. I can just imagine the Scarface like missions you could have in Miami. Can anyone say Chainsaw.

I hope some of the radio stations have the following

-Miami Vice theme song
-Goin' to Miami (will smith)

I'll still leave the preset to doubleclef

As long as they bring Lazzlo back

Looking forward to GTA Miami

Also GTA4, but I hope it has a strong single player mode like 3 did. If they want to add a multiplayer or online element, fine, but it better have singleplayer too. Still with GTA4 being 2 years off, they have a lot of time to develop something good.

Cuban mafia? Does that exist? Do they have Russian mafia levels on GTA3? If not, you'd think they'd do something with that considering how prevelant it is in real life. Or maybe they don't want to get whacked?

What's funny is I find myself listening to the station that plays opera. I don't know why. The piece I really like is the song that they play during the commercial for GTA 3. Does anyone know what the name of it is?

I checked it out and even though that was one of the songs from the game, it wasn't the one that plays in the commercial. Thanks anyway.

Very true, but being that there is no other song on the classic station with an opera singer, I think he'll understand.

My spidey sense tells me that this Miami add-on could end up as the X-tra feature of the game for the Xbox version. So it would be GTA3X and include the full GTA3 and the Miami missions. That would be sweet. I don't mind waiting.

After finishing GTA3 a couple months ago, I recently picked it back up and started playing through it again. A couple nights ago, I finished my last mission with Ray (who happened to be one of my favorite mission bosses in the game), where you have to get him to his flight at the Shoreside Vale airport in time. Ray made a comment about seeing you in Miami, and after hearing the news of GTA Miami recently, I'm thinking there's a great chance good ol' Ray will make an appearance!

I think you are talking about Donald Love's disappearance don't you? I hope they include those missing missions in GTA 4.
