Stupid Question of the week...

I just got my new Onyko 494, and I love it. However it has 4 outlets for front speakers. I have right now the customery 5 (LF, RF, Cen, SW, RR, RL) but if I add the 2 extra front speakers, will my overall sound level increase, or will the level stay the same and be absorbed (evenly distributed) to the two new speakers?

Thanks.

Are the outlets designated A & B. If so, just pick one. If not, then I am confused too.

The extra set of hook-ups is for running another set of speakers in another room. The receiver can not amplify all of the speakers at once, you have to choose either one or the other.

Right on, Mr. Salty! I couldn NOT figure out why my receiver kept going into "overload" mode and shutting down. Then I realized I had it set to A AND B speakers. Good call.

hmmm

thanks guys. I thought it was an option to set up another 2 front speakers to increase the overall sound output.

Mr.Salty is correct, and I would add that running more then 2 front speakers would ruin the front soundstage and wreak havok with imaging.
