Um... DVD Express gone?
The Blair Thumb came out last week, on 01/22/02. I haven't received it yet. No probem. I'm not anal about receiving DVDs on the release date. But I did order it from DVD Express, so I'm a little wary, based on people's recent experiences with them.
I have been trying to access their site now all night, off and on. Is it just me or are they gone? Eek.

Anyone have a customer phone no. for these guys???
It's always nice to know that there's no one you can call if there are problems with your order...so does anyone have DVD Express customer service phone number were you can talk to an actual living breathing person to find out what happened to your order?
I followed this forums advice and only ordered DVDs that are actually in stock...now on my order status 3 out of 5 DVD titles are on BACKORDER!!!! I tried the e-mail route...but of course no reply. HEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLPPPPPPPPPPPPP!!!!

Backorder...
Well, I was able to finally get into DVD Express today, after reading your reply, kansai999. Thanks. Maybe they were having problems yesterday.
However, The Blair Thumb is on backorder. What I'd like to know is how the hell a new release can be backordered. I've ordered a lot of DVDs via preorder and I've never had one go into backorder status immediately. This is disconcerting to say the least.

Similar thing happened to me...
I ordered 5 DVDs...when I initially placed the order one was put on BACKORDER even though they were all listed it as in stock. The following day I checked my account - and presto...all 5 DVDs were now PROCESSING. Now today...3 out of 5DVDs are on BACKORDER again...what's going on??? I've e-mailed them...but no reply yet. Will keep you guys posted if any reply comes...

I also ordered 5 DVDs and they were all listed as "in stock". A few hrs later I logged in and checked and my order was being processed. Then an hour later 3 titles went into "backorder" status" then another hour later all 5 were backodered. I can not access the site at all today.

I don't see why people still order from them, I think they are just going under again. I have Email'ed 3 times around 4-5 months ago and they never even answered back with a generated response 'we have received your message, etc'... I don't know, but I don't order a thing from them now.

'cause they have some really cheap stuff...
but I guess you get what you paid for...which in this case is nothing but a headache!!!
Believe me, I've never ordered from them before...nor will I ever again....
but I did "try" to buy DVDs that normally would have been $24 for $9 each. I did get an e-mail back from them...but it took 4 days. Unfortunately they did not address this whole BACKORDER thing (I asked about that in a second e-mail) If I get a response regarding this, I'll definitely let the forum know.
The whole site seems pretty sloppy to me though...
How can you say that something is in stock...and then it's not, and then it is after all...and then it's not again. Pretty bad, if you ask me...

They appear to be gone again. More "maintenence"!! They also appear to have opened a Yahoo store which you're redirected to. Yahoo store?? Ugh!! Sounds like a company in trouble to me, not that they arent in enough trouble . Cheers.

Well I even tried to make an order except I'm in Canada so they can't varify my CC and had to email. I sent it about 4 months ago and of course gave up on the reply... so no choice but NOT to order with them since I can't. Someone put them out of their misery... that was a very lousy "come back" if I ever saw one...

How long does it take...
for shipment to arrive? I placed an order on 1/24 and got an email saying it was shipped 1/25. I was charged the same day. It's been almost a week and I still haven't received it. I used to (well, a year ago) get my order within 3 days after they said being shipped. My order contains 5 DVDs so I assumed it was shipped via USPS priority mail. The tracking number they provided was invalid.

They are still there, but my order, which was supposedly shipped, has an "invalid tracking number"....
dvdexpress is an "interesting" place these days.

I finally had enough...I canceled the order!!!
I checked again yesterday. Now ALL my items are on BACKORDER. I finally decided #$%# it...I'm canceling the whole thing. This is ridiculous.
Afterwards, I checked the DVDs I had wanted...and look!!!!
It now says 1 AVAILABLE - SHIPPING IMMEDIATELY
Yeah right....if you believe that you're crazy!!! And on top of it...the DVDs I had ordered for $9.99 were now all $22.99!!! Don't say you haven't been warned!!!
This site is the absolute worst I have ever ordered anything from!!!

Christian,
I'm somewhat in the same boat except they keep sending me emails claiming they cannot authorize my CC for that one order and if they cant do it by the 3rd time then they'll cancel it. I'm convinced that their "maintence" caused me to miss out on most of my order since they were mostly pending, but all eventually ended up as backordered. Even though 3 orders placed after that one have been supposedly shipped to me and have cleared my CC. I think they want to cancel the order. Most of the stuff that I have on that order is listed on their site as orderable, but at a much higher price than $9.99 (which is what it was when I ordered it). I refuse to cancel the order and have tried to contract customer service but only am getting the same email about CC authorization failure from the cut and pasters at customer service. Their "award winning customer service" has convinced me that I dont need to do business with them again.
I was just going to log into my DVD express account and recheck it and it now appears that they're a porn site now??!!??
Just what in the hell is going on there?????
Well, I dont know if it was an internet belch or not but I typed in www.dvdexpress.com and a porn site came up. However, now it goes to the right site. I suppose the internet gods are telling me I need to buy more porn .
UPDATE: I typed in www.dvdexpess.com by accident and dat's a porn site. What the hell is a expess?

Phibes,
Did you ever get any of the items Dvdexpress said they sent to you? I have not heard anything from them since the 2 emails last week saying my CC had failed (or whatever). Never heard anything about the first order I placed on 1/19 other than a confirmation email. Their site seems to be down again at this moment. I have not had any charges to my CC so far.

Guess what...today I got an e-mail...
and of course it was TOTALLY USELESS again!!! The customer service guy doesn't answer my question regarding the BACKORDER/then PROCESSING status of the items...he simply states that he CAN'T FIND MY ORDER!!! Well ddduuhhhhh!!! I CANCELED IT NOW!!!!! What a bunch of $#$#$%%$@$%*^&!!!
I really wanted to take advantage of some of the good deals at this site...but I think it's just too good to be true. Now I've resigned myself to the fact that I won't get those DVDs booohooo!!! Then again, I'll be saving the money for something else...and for some other, better organized, reliable site!!!
Frustrated but wiser,
Christian

Just give up...these guys are unreliable.
And that's all I have to say at this point. If they send me any more e-mails to apologize for their bizarre business practices I'll certainly let you know.

ernestrp,
I havent gotten anything. My CC has been charged the correct amounts for 3 orders, but I have yet to get any DVDs.
Seeker,
I dont know what kind of USPS number that could be. Delivery confirmation via media mail and priority uses a much longer number. Secondly, if however which way they possibly send anything doesnt include tracking then why the heck does it put a tracking number there. Is this part of the new piss the customer off beyond all reason plan? Maybe they're trying to win another award for customer service.....sh*ttyist customer service for 2002!! They've definately gotten my vote so far!!
rdodolak,
Hmmm, how do you know that its a USPS number? You dont work for Express do you? If you do, I would keep it quiet .
dvd4life,
I havent ordered anything but the sale stuff. From what I've heard somebody had a preorder and the release date came and went and the item was listed as backordered. I'd recommend staying away from ordering from them.
BTW, all the titles in the order that they say they cannot authorize my card for are now listed on their site are orderable (for a much higher price) and that they'll ship them when they come in (fat chance that they'll come in). I'm of the opinion that they dont want to fulfill said order and are eventually going to use the card authorization ruse to cancel it. If they do, of course I'll come here to vent about it .
Cheers.

My credit card has been charged, but I have not received the DVD yet, nor does the tracking number work. (can't figure out what it is tracking - it certainly is NOT Fed Ex)
I don't think I'll be using DVD Express again.
