New, yet untitled, studio album from Dave Matthews Band. They finally got their wits about them and ditched Glen Ballard to do the producing themselves. Hopefully it will end up being more like their albums produced by Steve Lillywhite and (much) less like the Ballard album.

They're also going to polish up some of the Lillywhite Sessions songs.. very excited for that.

A couple articles in Rolling Stone first reporting that the band would be going back to the studio around Janurary said that they were shooting for a mid-2002 release. Granted, 5 or even 6 months is a really short time to record an album, but the article said Dave and boys had a bunch of new songs already written (I believe it said 28.. but this also includes Lillywhite songs). If they take the tapes from the Lillywhite Sessions, they've got a bunch of songs almost done.. listen to Captain or Big Eyed Fish, all they need are backing vocals and they're done.

Rumor also is that new tour dates will be posted on Thursday, with the band focusing on smaller venues (<20,000 capacity) for this tour. Luckily for us Washington people, The Gorge has a capacity of exactly 20,000.

Believe me, I've been patiently waiting as well for this----almost as long as the new supposedly forthcoming Mazzy Star disc that Hope Sandoval has said her and David Roback have actually been working on on-and-of for years (maybe 2002? maybe? please? )

Also hoping the Counting Crows have one, even looking forward to that on more so then Pearl Jam or new Fiona Apple that isn't listed but long rumored...

Others:

A Perfect Circle
Coldplay

According to Sacred Ground (Vernon's guitar tech posted it, i think), Vernon & the guys'll hit the studio after their current tour.
... dunno about that rumored South Amer. concert DVD, although i wouldn't mind a DVD port of "Primer" and "Time Tunnel" to tide me over....
