need help with Aiwa D58
So I finally got my sound in the digital age and I have no digital.
The Aiwa tech support have the day off so...help!
I cannot get any digital coming through the reciever. I am supposed to be seeing either Dolby Digital, or DTS in the led display. I don't see either. I only have two speakers (plugged into the front speaker inputs) I have tried running in Phantom mode and the best i get is Dolby Pro Logic. I have the optical cable going from the Dvd player (RCA RC522OP), and yes I am testing a Dvd with both DTS and DD. Is the fact that I have only two speakers a factor?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Day Sleeper,
If the receiver is not displaying the stream, you may have to go into your dvd player's menu (the bios) and select send Dolby Digital or Digital stream. It should be right under the audio menu on the dvd player. Also, with my receiver, I had to tell it what speakers I have. Since you have 2 speakers, you have to program your receiver so that it can downmix the channels into those 2 speakers. Otherwise, you will be missing channels of sound.
Let me know if this helps or if you need anymore information.

Once you have it al setup and working properly, can you post a review or email me a review([email protected])?
I have a rain check for this system for 188 bucks from Best buy and I too would like to step into the DD/DTS age but have read nothing but HORRIBLE reviews about this system.
Supposedly the speakers are bottom of the barrel quality and even DTS sounds like you are listening through a tin can.
Atleast this is what Ive read...
Any opinion on it would be great..
Thanx!
Don

I purchased this receiver (AV-D58) yesterday (sounds good enough for me for the price). It did not come with speakers. Is this model receiver available in a home theater (with speakers) package?
