Looking For Good Price on 27" Flat Screen

Who has the best prices?
I've been looking at Toshiba, JVC, and Sony and they all seem to go for around $550, anywhere I can get one for less?
Thanks!

Sam's Club sells the 27" Akai Flat TV(CFT2790)with componet inputs, for $380. I don't know anything about it, but you can find it in the store and also read the specs on their website, www.samsclub.com..

I looked at the Akai 27" at sams club and was quite impressed with the picture quality. At one time Akai was the high end audio division of Mitsubishi. Don't know if it is still produced by them as I noticed the tv is made in Mexico. Anyway, $379 is a steal for a flat screen with component inputs and a picture that good. I am considering buying one for the bedroom.

I think Sam's club has a pretty good return policy if you don't like it. I've seen a P.O.S TV last for years and a Sony die in a week so who knows.

I have an old Akai 2 channel reciever in my basement that is built like a tank and sounds awesome. Unfortuneatly, I had to retire it to upgrade to a 5.1 receiver. All the Akai equipment I've seen and used has been of similar quality. For $379, I would be inclined to take the chance if you are as impressed with the picture quality as I was....after all, thats what really matters most in a tv

I've seen the same thing. I keep wishing that the P.O.S. TV in the den would die so I could be allowed to replace it.

Sam's Club has a 90 return policy, which is exactly the same length of time as the warranty on this TV.

Update:
It seems this TV is the same as the Samsung 27" flat screen(TXL2791). It's a different color, but the remote codes and specs are the same.

These sets do the 16:9 squeeze like the Sonys. $379 is a heck of price for a set with flat-screen, component inputs and the 16:9 squeeze.

Just do what I did:

I consider myself very fortunate. I was looking at the Akai also but was afraid. I consider a 27" Wega for $445 a much better deal than the 27" Akai for $380.

It sounds like you might have gotten a one-of-a-kind deal.

I bought a 27" Samsung flat-screen at Best Buy for $449 about a week ago and have been *very* happy with it. I actually liked it (picture quality and design) better than the Wega and it was $100 cheaper.

I'm getting ready to run out and buy an S-video cable, my old tv didn't have the hookup for it, I'm interested to see if I can notice the difference.
