I seem to remember something about the icon codes not beig able to be more t han 9 characters...

If that's the case, I suggest a simpler wording scheme: for thumbsup and for thumbsdown.

or you could do a quick:

ALTER TABLE smilie MODIFY smilietext varchar(12);
UPDATE smilie SET smilietext=':thumbsdown:' WHERE smilieid=16;
