today's cds [10/31]

will listen to

Dismemberment Plan - "Change"
(Smog) - "Rain on Lens"
Circulatory System - ST

In an attempt to both do my part for the economy and ignore my pending financial straits, I've been buying cds like some kind of wild animal lately. In addition to the above 3, I got those 2 cds at Sunday's show, Jenny Toomey's new one, Tenacious D., the new Gerbils, and a few more -- all within the last few weeks. Stupid stupid stupid.

QoD
Any shows coming up you're looking forward to?

I just found out that Ted Leo & the Pharmacists are playing at UVM in a week. Very exciting.

Right now listening to the Change stream from the Plan's site.

Also:

White Stripes -- White Stripes
Rolling Stones -- Between the Buttons
Low -- Things We Lost in the Fire
Big Black -- Hammer Party

Not really any shows for me. I am too poor. Just last week I had to pass on Trail of Dead & Low because of no money. And tonight I was supposed to go see the Strokes as well as Q & Not U, Panthers, Walkmen and Rival Schools. But I have to save cash. I will be getting laid off soon I think.

Will listen to:

Blink 182 - Take Off Pants and Jacket..
White Lines - White Lines
Los Van Van - Best Of

Also looking at future unemployment (I figure by end of Nov), and am also buying CDs like a wild animal (if wild animals indeed bought CDs).

QOD: Wilco is coming to a town just over the Can/US border from me. I just have to decide if I have the cash (they are coming pretty much the exact date I expect to be laid off).

Jeez, seems like I'm the only one around here not getting laid off soon (KNOCK WOOD). But, there's not much interesting in terms of shows that I want to see...

Been buying discs like a madman, though.

See them if at all possible. Hyperbole aside, it is a near religious experience. Especially if you have never seen them before.

Yancey,

Maybe you'd save yourself some time if you just made the above your sig (with a few alterations of course).

Kidding aside, I hoped/figured you'd chime in to talk up Wilco. I saw them on this tour, and now pretty much believe that all the praise they get is warranted.

Bummer about having to pass on shows -- I won't even single out Low, except that I just did -- but I can understand trying to save the scratch. My coping strategy is two-fold: 1) obsess about money problems; 2) ignore money problems. I think I need to find some middle ground.

That's the same way I handle money, in short -- badly. I am trying to be responsible, and fortunately there is little out there that is calling me out right now.

And yeah, I know I'm a Wilco booster. But they're the only band I defend with so much vigor. And they deserve it, in my mind. It's probably annoying to the regulars. Sorry!

Been listening to Tomahawk's debut album lately. Very good I must say.

Other stuff I'm listening to include a compilation of horror movie themes I put together for tonight.

Also listening too: Sevendust - Animosity
Groove Armada's latest.

QoD - Going to see Jane's Addiction next friday. After that I am going to attend Tori Amos' concert with my girlfriend. I really wanted to see Tool but I didn't have the cash.

I've been playing The Shaggs' "It's Halloween" WAY too much these last couple of days. I hope I'm able to forget it soon.

AOD: I'll be seeing Dylan in 2 weeks. Almost 40 frickin' dollars after all the Ticketmaster charges!!
