any melodic/power metal fans

Hey, is there any melodic/power metal fans out there?
If so, list your favorite bands and I will list mine.

Do you mean like Motorhead?

Seriously though, to keep this on track you need at least to name a couple of the type of bands you mean: just look at the different definitions we have seen here for EMO and Progressive Rock music!

Would you include, for example, Thin Lizzy?

have you checked out www.metal-rules.com ? They are a good place for all things metal.
you won't find any "Mallcore" or "Nu-Metal" there, just "Real Metal" as they call it.They have a UBB called "Disgruntled Metalheads" if you are interested.
Hope this helps you out

Re: A few examples.....

How could you leave out Maiden? I saw them twice on the "reunion" tour, and they were as great as ever.

Some of my other favorites (some prog metal in here, too):
Angra
Bruce Dickenson
Dream Theater
Fates Warning
Iced Earth
Nevermore
Pain of Salvation
Payne's Gray
Savatage
Symphony X
Threshold

Hammerfall should be on your list. They're sort of a combination of Iron Maiden (tight melodies) and Manowar (knights in armor imagery). None of Manowar's cartoonish "Kings of Metal kicking your ass" stuff though. Legacy of Kings is a great album.

Jag Panzer are good too. They just put out a new album called Mechanized Warfare.

I'm only familiar with a few bands on your list, namely Iced Earth, Blind Guardian, Helloween and Iron Fire. I've only recently discovered that this scene was as alive and vibrant as it is. I associate this stuff with what I was listening to in the 80's (NWOBHM, etc,). Before stumbling onto Iron Fire in a record store I thought all the metal guys had abandoned melody and soaring vocals for grunting speed metal and songs about rotting corpses.

Now we just have to get rock radio to start playing this stuff. If it was still 1985, Iced Earth would be headlining arenas. I want it to be 1985 again.

have some of those too...

Jason,
I do have all the Jag Panzer albums and Hammerfall. I have almost 500 cd's of metal albums and can't name them all. There is a metal radio show on a station, but online it is called www.metalmeltdown.com from Ohio (I think) that plays this style of music.

Aghama,
I have all the Iron Maiden albums and also have Angra, Symphony X, Bruce Dickenson, and Dream Theater. I recently purchased a Jap. version of Gamma Ray's new Album above. It sounds like the Judas Priest of old and if you like Maiden, you will dig these guys!!

You guys should check out two of the granddaddies of power/melodic metal: SHIVA and WHITE SPIRIT. They're both part of the early '80s NWOBHM and each only did one album ("Firedance" by Shiva, and "White Spirit" by White Spirit). Shiva has a melodic Rush kinda thing going, while White Spirit is famous for teenage lead guitarist Janick Gers. Both CDs are amazing, but very difficult to find. Well worth the effort.
