Tecmo Super Bowl (NES) - Best game ever?
This game is fantastic. Never got tired of it. If you play the ROM version, you can update ROSTERS every year. Simply a fantastic game.
Reggie White was so good in this game, too bad he is a bigot in real life.

One of my favorite football games ever -- any of the versions of this game, including Super Bowl III on the SNES.
What I liked about it over Madden or Gameday or any other football sim is that it didn't try to be overly realistic, just realistic enough. I'm still trying to learn Madden or Gameday, even if I pick the pervious year's superbowl champs and my friend who's really good picks, I dunno, the Bengals, I still get whooped up on. I could teach someone the basics in Techmo in about ten minutes (one game), pick a crummy team, give them a good team, and have a contest on my hands. Techmo was well balenced, easy to learn, intuitive, and yet, still seemed real.
And, who can forget the zig-zag run for the touchdown.

I just played five games in a row in an Emulator of this game last week. Obviously, technology increases, but still on sheer experience, it was for me, the best sports game ever. Best score ever was 112-13.
