Well, the alternate ending is not nearly as good as the original IMHO. It has Simon getting away and going somewhere (I'm presuming he's either back overseas or still in Canada). Anyhow, he's sitting there having coffee when McClane comes and sits down at the table with him. He puts a Rocket launcher on the table. They start talking about the events that took place and McClane has Simon make everybody leave the restaurant. McClane then says he wants to play a game. He starts rattling off riddles that Simon has to answer, he also gets to turn the RL around so that one end points at him and one at McClane. The trick is that he doesn't know which end is which (firing end compared to loading end) since McClane went and took the scope off the RL. Finally Simon misses a riddle and McClane hits the button to fire the RL and it blows Simon away. Could have easily went either way, but that just shows how dark and mean McClane is, which is not the way he is.
