Buy now from amazon or buy closer to Christmas??

I have some amazon GCs& am planning on buying dvd player as a Christmas present for someone. I was wondering if I should wait until closer to Christmas for some better coupons. Best I can do w/ coupons now is $10 off. Do you guys think better coupons will be around closer to Christmas? Thanks.

I'd order ASAP as the closer you get to december the slower they are to ship. I got killed on a few presents that arrived a week or more after xmas and complaints were ignored by amazon. They sat on my order because one CD was out of stock.

Oh yeah and:

There will undoubtly be good deal on DVD players as we get closer to the holiday buying season.

If you don't care about getting a particular player (brand & model), I'd definitely absolutely wait to see Black Friday and early December sales at retail stores. Last year no name players were available for less than $90. This year we'll see similar, but I feel we'll see brand names in the $80-90 range as well.

If they don't manifest themselves by say Dec 8th or so, order away.

Just in case you didn't figure it out yet...this is in the wrong forum...

That being said, I wouldn't count on getting that much better of a deal...Amazon has realized that people will buy at regular price and have cut WAY back on coupons, etc. in the past couple of years..

At one time Amazon would have offered great coupons around the holidays, but that didn't happen last year, and I don't see that happening this year either. I'd order now, I don't see you getting a better deal later, and of course, you want to make sure your items arrive on time.

If you're not already aware of it, there's a new $15 off $100 coupon (see Amazon coupon thread) which seems to be good in any of their departments.
Also, Free shipping on all DVD players so not too bad of a time to buy.
