Hey Geoff,

I was just curious if you tracked the new member status from the time the commercial came out until now. Did we pick up a lot of new subscribers/registered users? I have noticed some newbies in the talk forum so I was just curious if the advertising paid off.

You can check this yourself. Click the members button above and then do a "list by date joined".

We've seen more overall traffic to the site, but new members to the forum seems to be pretty steady.

So people who were afraid that there would be a rush of new memebers can rest assure that we're pretty muchor just slightly above average for this time of year.

Actually, I was hoping that we would have seen a rush of members, not the other way around. For some bizarre reason, I want this site to succeed as much as you do (okay maybe not that much).

a review from dvdtalk is quoted in the ad for The Phantom Menace dvd that just hit the stores.. (as well as a review by thedigitalbits).. The ad runs nation wide (world wide?) on both television and the radio

yep.. but thats the catch 22

rush of members = more server load = crash site = members leave

or

rush of members = more people hitting advertisements and buying through affiliate links

This has already been answered but I wanted to add that while I live in Mickey Mouse land here in Florida where you would think such ads would be played non-stop, there was nothing here in Orlando until after the release.

I kept reading here at DVD-Talk about the ads and how they mentioned DVD-Talk but I didn't see a TV ad until a few days after release and I have never heard a radio spot at all.

I remember telling my GF that I would think they would have promoted this DVD a little more. Go figure.

Lucas is saving the money for the "Episode I SE" DVD ad campaign.
