The DVD itself, is loaded. Meaning it's got all the goodies, extras, etc... At least that's what i read. For the extra's id give it a serious look. But hey, that's just my opinion, take it for whats its worth.
As for the movie itself........BLAH..... I'm still mad at my GF for dragging my ass out to see it...... :P

I was one of the few who really enjoyed it. Dreamworks presents a terrific DVD with impressive video quality and extras.
I can see where people wouldn't enjoy it - personally, I was pleased to see an original, edgy comedy, even if it didn't handle the transitions between moods that well. Performances were great - especially Pitt's hyper effort.
Rental.

The Mexican isn't so loaded that it overshadows the fact that you may not like the movie.
I liked the movie and that's why I got mine. Even for someone who liked the movie, I didn't think the extras were that great.
Rent it first and then decide.

I bought it without seeing it in theaters first. I thought it had a good story and the extras were great. Not bad for $17.99, plus it was the only good release that week.
Buy it.

It's definitely a rental, if that. Here's what I wrote about it when it came out:
The marketing will try to convince you differently, but "The
Mexican" (2 out of four stars; rated R for language and violence)
definitely is not a romantic comedy. In fact, it doesn't know what
it wants to be.
It's not even the big matchup of Julia Roberts and Brad Pitt
that studio flacks portend; the actors rarely share the same
frame. And when they are together, they're usually not
particularly likable, with enough overgesturing and histrionics to
fill several semesters of lessons at the William Shatner School
of Acting.
Pitt plays bumbling bad-luck bag man Jerry, who reluctantly
leaves girlfriend Samantha (Roberts) behind for a mob gig in
Mexico, confident that it will be his last. The assignment: Fetch
the boss' grandson and the rare pistol he possesses, a
legendary firearm called the Mexican. Faster than you can
say, "Drop the chalupa," things backfire on Jerry and Samantha
is kidnapped by a thug (James Gandolfini) intent on getting the
Mexican from Jerry.
It's revealing that the best performance is not by the big-name
stars but by Gandolfini (HBO's "The Sopranos") as "psycho
Leroy from Minnesota." But it also is telling that the second-best
performance is by the mangy mutt that tags along with Jerry, a
chewed-up football in its mouth.
Director Gore Verbinski ("Mouse Hunt," Budweiser frogs
commercials) has said that "The Mexican" was envisioned as a
smaller independent film until Pitt and Roberts unexpectedly
signed on. Perhaps he would have gotten something closer to
what he envisioned if they hadn't.
Goofball gringos in trouble south of the border? Try "The Way
of the Gun."
If you rent the DVD
- Basics: Widescreen (2.35:1 ratio, anamorphic); Dolby Digital
and DTS 5.1 audio; English subtitles.
- Extras: Director's commentary; deleted scenes; making-of
featurette; trailers; production notes; bios.
- Good stuff: The deleted scenes are interesting, and the
director explains (on an optional audio track) why they were cut.

Just watched this movie this weekend, and I really enjoyed it, but my wife thought it just went on too long and all the bad luck for Pitt's character became too much.
If you're a little sick of all the psycho babble relationship talk being tossed around over the last few years ("I need you to validate me") then I think you'll find the movie pretty funny. Pitt and Roberts don't have much chemistry, but they don't spend much screen time together, so it's not that distracting, but it's making me hesitate as to whether to hold on to the DVD.
I also liked the story surrounding the gun's history and how it was used. Nothing remarkable, but definitely a nice touch for me.
Unless you can get it for less than $10 and don't have a better movie to buy, I'd have to recommend renting this first.

i personally thought it was great, and the DVD is pretty damn good as well.. not loaded but it's got some nice extras and the audio/video quality is superb.
like already stated, rent it first and decide what you think of the movie because it seems like most people either love it or hate it.

I'm no big Brad Pitt fan, but I couldn't wait to get back to the story in Mexico w/Mr Pitt. This could have been a much better movie without Julia Roberts. It seemed like two separate movies, and after awhile you wish Tony would just off the bi*ch so you could get on with the movie.I agree the dog was hilarious. I would definitely rent first, it's atleast worth $4 and a couple of hours.

Most of the reviews here summed up the movie very well.
It is the type of movie you might love or hate. I don't think there is much room in between.
I will agree that the chemistry between Roberts and Pitt was not the best. I don't think she was the best person cast in that role.
I liked the film but as jarofclay73 stated the extras were not overloaded.
