Clay Pigeons Review
Hi, I wanted to encourage people to check out the 1998 Clay Pigeons DVD. I own it and love it but haven't found a single review on DVD web sites. It's a noirish dark comedy thriller starring Joaquin Phoenix, Vince Vaughn, Janeane Garofalo. It's also got Georgina Cates in one of the best crazy villainess roles you'll ever see.
Clay (Phoenix) is a likeable everyguy with woman problems (Cates) and a penchant for finding dead bodies. Vaughn arrives as delightful charmer Lester Long who befriends Clay (or does he?). Garofalo arrives late in the picture as an FBI agent, but promptly steals the movie. Top notch performances and script.
Obviously with dead bodies, there's a little violence, but it's tame by today's standards and pretty tolerable for all but the most squeamish. You're too busy laughing to worry. Opening scene is probably the toughest, so hang in there.
The Polygram video has an option for pan and scan or 1:85 anamorphic. Pressing is quite good, especially for a "small" film. I'd say four stars. DD 5.1 track is excellent.
Rent it and let me know what you think. This film deserves more attention, and the DVD will look just fine on your big projection system.

Thanks for Info
Hendrik, thanks for the web links. I don't read Danish, so the second one didn't do me much good, but I didn't know about thecinemalaser.com, so that's a real find for me. Their review was good, but IMHO didn't give Georgina Cates enough credit. She really carries the movie in the first half.
Do you know the movie?
