What suggestions are there for sites in Australia to import from. Of all the postings and information that I have seen, no actual Australian stores have been mentioned. If this is true, why?

www.chaosmusic.com.au is my favourite, I've had quite a lot from there and shipping times are excellent.

www.ezydvd.com.au are also very very good

and www.dvdplanet.com.au

They're the three main ones that I can remember the addresses of and use, although there are more.

I don't know off the top of my head how good the US-Oz exchange rate is at the moment (round about 0.5), but the ex rate is the biggest plus-point for importing Australian discs to the UK. The Oz dollar is weak at the moment, y'see.

EDIT - just had a look, its around 0.55 US to the Oz.

Just seen you're from Canada, so make that about 0.8 Ca to the Oz

Speaking from experience, I would say no to using chaosmusic.com.au.. I have used them in the past and stock that is supposed to ship within a few days has taken about 2 months to ship (and this is only communicated after sending them a few emails)

ezydvd.com.au and ozdvdwhs.com.au are supposed to be pretty good although I have never used them.

www.ezydvd.com.au are fantastic, have heard bad things about chaosmusic but have not actually used them myself.

Highly recommend www.DeVoteD.com.au although I'm not sure if they ship internationally.

Go to DVD Plaza and you'll find a price comparision utility as well as heaps of Australian online DVD stores listed down the right side.

I also recommend staying away from Chaosmusic. I've had several bad experiences when ordering CD's from them and will never use them again. As mentioned above, check out www.dvdplaza.com.au

Another good one:

http://www.videoshift.com/dvd/

Ezydvd and Video Shift are the only two Oz e-tailers I consistently use. They both get the big in my book.

Australian sources

If I was in Australia, the first place I'd check is the excellent Heroic Cinema website whose URL I don't know offhand. It's based in Australia, has lots of excellent top ten lists, well-written articles AND links to favorite DVD merchants -- e-tail as well as brick and mortar.
Good hunting.

Another good site is DVD Plaza. It has links to several Australian online retailers, and has a pricecrawler so that you can see which site has the best price on any given title.

Ordering R4 DVDs from Australia

I'd like to find out your opinion on weather I should buy DVDs from the following australian e-tailers:
ezydvd.com.au or chaosmusic.com?
I know the international shipping rates for the first one = AUD 13 for 3 DVDs, but couldn't find shipping costs for the second one (I'm buying Friends Series 1 DVDs)
Has anybody already shopped with them and how long did it take for you to get your DVDs from them (say in USA)?

I've ordered from EzyDVD several times and they have the best service of any etailer anywhere IMO. Packages always arrived safe and sound only 5-7 days later. I'll be ordering Buffy Season 3 from them as well.

I wouldn't recommend chaosmusic, I've found them to be very slow in the past.

You might want to consider http://www.devoted.com.au/ , on average it should work out cheaper than ezydvd.

Slightly cheaper than all of those is

http://www.fbo.com.au/

I think they've been around since early last year and I've heard a few good things about them. However if you're after the more established stores the others mentioned are all well worth considering.

I'd also like to emphasise that at the moment region 4 is VERY cheap. EG. perfect storm costs US$10.15 and Gladiator is US$13.

Well,i ordered some Friends season sets from devoted.com.au on 8/15/01 and they still haven't shipped. Also there is no way to check orderstatus online because they don't recognize your e-mail or password(you can get a message to them via instant messaging to some guy named Glenn who responds but don't know when the order will be available).Comming up on a month without shipment ,i can not recommend this site.

Well,i ordered some Friends box sets from devoted.com.au on 8/15/01 and they still haven't shipped
Could that be because they have not been released yet? The last time I looked the release date for the Friends box sets was 10th October.

Bit harsh to blame Devoted for that, surely?
