...ahh... Hong Kong is (in) Region 3:

...however, many if not most Hong Kong DVDs are Region "0" - or Region "ALL", which is the same thing
...for instance, the DVDs of Kurosawa movies released by Mei Ah are Region ALL
...however I recently bought a series of (non-Kurosawa) Japanese movies on the Hong Kong Universe label, and these are all Region 3
...incidentally, all DVDs from Region 3 (even when labeled Region 0 or Region ALL) are NTSC
