I bet i've spent over $2000.00 at Amazon on various items over the years and not once have i received a promotion certificate. What does someone have to do to receive one? Do i need to complain or something? lol

Full Price?

Strange. I opened a new account, placed an order and received it. Then I received a father's day $10 off 50 promotion in the email.

I guess this is all random.

Well, I don't know if this will help, but I used to be one of the unfortunate ones too, then I went to amazon and went to their site and clicked on the update your communications preference link and signed up for all their e-mail etc...I get a bunch of junk mail but I also get a lot of coupons in the mail too.

Why should they send promos to people who already spend lots of money with them? What's it going to do, get you to spend a little less?

I have two accounts. One, that hardly buys anything after a rash of earlier buying (with GC's), gets all sorts of deals, the Father's Day one, now the $5 one, etc. The account that buys more regularly (well, uses GC's more regularly), gets nothing!

I have not received any of these promo GCs either from Amazon, but figure I will in the future since they are not my primary source to purchase DVDs anymore.

take comfort in the fact that even if you actually recieved those supposedly great amazon deals, they're no better than the everyday price deepdiscountdvd could get you, and a fraction of the price columbia house could get you.

I crunched the numbers on a 15 off 35 coupon amazon sent me a while ago, which by their standards is an unbelievable deal, and it would have saved me a whopping 34 cents over ddd's everyday price.

scamazon.

True, with their promotion offers you may not save a lot comparing to deals at B&Ms and discount sites when you are paying CASH.

When you have stackable GCs to burn, that's a different story. It has everything to do with maximizing what you can get from Amazon out of your GCs

Btw, their customer service is first class. So buying from them may mean a bit of convenience in times of problems.

Same here - but no coupon on the account I have used regularly.

ANd while it may be true that you could get the same final price at DeepDiscount, my Amazon order arrived two days later, rather than the two weeks I would be waiting for my DeepDiscount order.

It is totally random who gets one and who doesn't. Awhile ago I wrote in about it to inquire how it was determined who got a flyer and who didn't and CS actually wrote me back and apologized about me not receiving one and included a $10 gc for me as well. So I suggest writing them, not angrily or anything, just ask why you didn't get one and that you had some "friends" or something who received one, but you didn't. You never know, maybe you'll get lucky as well and they'll send you a gc or something....Of course, now I have been receiving their mailings a bit more often too.
