So I go into Blockbuster today to use the 2 for 1 rental coupon I have (since I never go without one) and start browsing the shelves for some recent releases that I haven't seen yet. Specifically Cleopatra & Superman 2. Anyway, I don't see even the display boxes on the shelf, so I ask the poor dude who has to work there if they even carry those titles on DVD. His response? "We would have to special request older titles" When I informed him those titles have only come out in the past few months, you can just imagine the dumb look he gave, at which point I knew it was time to simply move on and pick something else.
I know this is a consistant rant, but shouldn't video store employees know something about videos? Especially knowing if a title has been recently released? Grrrr!!

Hey, at least he knew they were old movies!! My BB has both of those movies, too, I believe. Stories like that always make me think of the pimply-faced, voice changing teen clerk from the Simpsons.
As much as I agree with your sentiment, I think expecting a blockbuster employee to know about release dates (except for the 3 they keep on their reader board above the registers) is like execting a McDonald's employee to know how to cook.
Sometimes they do, sometimes they don't, sometimes they don't even try.
