Hi,
I was wondering about the amazon free shipping 'to your location' deals. Whenever I try to check out a DVD with free shipping it says that there are shipping restrictions, yet when it's a DVD with no free shipping, it works fine. I know I have ordered free shipping titles in the past (to Australia) but now it's not working. Have they changed the policy does anyone know?
Thanks.

I just got a reply from Amazon. The reply said (in their usual "this is a recording" manner) the following:
"Please know that we are aware of this problem and the issue is being worked on as we speak. It appears that this is only affecting our international orders. We would suggest that you leave your items in your shopping cart and return to place your order within 3-4 business days. In that amount of time this problem should have been fixed."
OK, I hope they'll be able to fix this. I want to use a refer-myself coupon!

Err maybe thats not true but it sure looks that way anyway
Thanks for the replies.

Well, this was the answer I got:
Hello, and thank you for writing to Amazon.com.
For a limited time, we are waiving shipping charges for "North by
Northwest" as part of a special promotion. However, please note
that this item may only be shipped via standard U.S. shipping. We
are unable to ship this item to an international address at this
time.
In addition to a wide selection of items, one of our aims at
Amazon.com is to provide a convenient and efficient service; in
this case, we have not met that standard.
I am truly sorry that we were not able to fulfill your expectations
for this level of service. I hope that you will honor us with
another opportunity to prove the quality of our service to you in
the future.
Please know that we do appreciate your business and look forward to
serving you again in the near future.
Best regards,
Kevin Adkins
Needless to say I wrote back indicating that no where on it's site did it say "US only" or did I click on any affiliate link. It was available from my PERSONALISED home page so I expected it to be honoured. After all, they personalise it to the extent of recommendations, so why can't they simply check the cookie before making any rash offers.

I got this reply:
Greetings from Amazon.com.
I apologize for any misunderstanding concerning your DVD purchase.
We are running a free domestic shipping promotion for selected DVD's. At
this time, there is a small glitch in our system that will not allow our
international customers to purchase these selected DVD's. This is being
worked on and should be fixed shortly.
The only way you may purchase DVD's at this time, is to make sure the
titles you are wanting to purchase, do not have the free shipping
promotion attached below the availability of the DVD's on the website. I
hope this helps explain the problem you had when placing your order.
Again, I apologize for any inconvenience this has caused you and I am sure
the problem will be fixed shortly.
I am pretty upset with this, given they don't mention US only on the site. I have since written back explaining that they should honor there advertising as it certainly appears to be misleading.

One click definitely still works. The only problem is using promotional GCs. How about setting up an order without using the free shipping discs (add any disc, you will cancel them later). Use the one click to purchase the free shipping title and then edit the order to combine it with your previous order. Now remove any discs you don't want.
I've not tried this although I have ordered a free shipping disc to the UK and I've not been charged postage and I used a non promotional GC.
With the one click you do have 90 minutes to play!
