They're going to do the "Cannonball Run" race...for real! 5 consecutive nights in August the USA network is going to run an all-out New York to California auto race, 3800 miles over back roads, 18 contestants in tricked-out cars. Sabotage is encouraged. No word yet on whether speeding laws will be followed.

This would be good if they got race car drivers, stunt drivers, truckers, and similar real people and do it for real. Knowing USA I fear they'll hype it up with a bunch of wild WWF-style characters and turn it into a joke.
Maybe they could have a 3 speeding ticket and you're out rule, which would presumedly keep folks from speeding dangerously in towns, though they could really get going out West. Aren't there even some western states (maybe Wyoming?) where they that have no speeding laws in open stretches?

I think that is Montana, but they returned to having speed limits in 1999. In any case, that would be way out of the way for a cannonball run, since it's too far north.
This entire show idea seems ludicrous as far as liability. I love the idea of the Cannonball run, but not like this.
But I think I would do well at it...
