That to me was the intelligent person's talk show

i loved it

i still remember the episode where they had the KKK on it and there was a big black guy in the audience!

it was always kind of funny when he would get all revved up and start going off on some topic.

oprah has kind of taken over his role in the sense that she has the clout to interview anyone she wants to. however oprah seems to try to avoid controversy where donahue pursued it like a rabid dog. makes her show way less interesting.

Yes. Actually I miss Phil Hartman's impersonation of Phil Donahue more than I miss Donahue himself. I also missed the early days of Jerry Springer. He actually seemed to want to discuss issues and stuff, although apparently no one wanted to see that.
