Why was Mad TV cancelled?
Is it because it was just sucky? If so then i really wish they could have just kept up the late 90s/early 2000s caliber.

Money. Got too expensive to produce for the time period it was on and the ratings.
Fox told Salzman the decision to ax the show was an economic one.
“They said it was too expensive for a daypart where dollars have been shrinking,” he said. “Their thought was, the show is what the show is, and that essence needs to be maintained — but it’s hard to produce as big and ambitious a show as ours for less money than they’re paying now.”

Quality is subjective. Money is not.

That cast was so much better then SNL ever was during that time period (I want to say late 90's-early 00's?). MadTV was fresh and funny while SNL was doing the same boring stuff (I always hated the guest host doing the monologue and they would take questions from the audience). Once the original cast started leaving, MadTV was never the same.

I watched Mad TV through the end, but its prime was the late 90s and early 00s. It was so much better than SNL during that time and was my show of choice. There's still quite a bit of hilarious bits I watch on YouTube from time-to-time.
I wish Shout! Factory would get the rights to the remaining seasons, but since they obtained them through Season 5 (and still haven't released it) I'm going to guess it's dead in the water.

Although just noticed they had some great up and coming actors/actresses towards the end of the run that are now fairly popular.
