Re: There any more new Studio Ghibli moives recently?

Myazaki hasn't directed anything since The Wind Rises in 2013 and Ghibli last put out When Marnie was There in 2014. Myazaki was retired, but he is working on a new feature titled How Do You Live?, which he will put out through Studio Ghibli

Most of the existing Ghibli works should be readily available on Blu/DVD though GKIDS, except for The Wind Rises which is still under control of Touchstone/Disney.

For the US yes, but I forgot about that, since it's technically nearly 30 years old. It was the only Ghibli film not to receive a North American/English language release of any kind.

Since When Marnie Was There all they've done is a television series called Ronia the Robber's Daughter and some shorts for the Ghibli Museum like Taiko no Tatsujin, Choujuu Giga, Tonari no Onigiri-kun, and Kemushi no Boro.

I didn't realize The Red Turtle was a Studio Ghibli film I need to buy it now.

Ocean Waves was released in 2017

Are you only intrested in Ghibi anime movies? there are a few really good movies that is not Studio Ghibli that you might like. such as:

A Letter to Momo
Mary and the Witch's Flower
Maquia
A Silent Voice

+ many more

Yeah, there are 10 short films that are only shown at the museum and have never had any kind of video release. I forget which one I saw when we went to the Ghibli Museum several years ago (I'd have to dig up my ticket), but it was really good.

Not sure that his is deserving of it's own thread, so I'm sticking it here, if anyone has a 2nd and Charles near them, I have noticed at the two near me that they are clearancing out New/Sealed copies of Disney released Studio Ghibli titles at $10 each. I picked up Howl's Moving Castle, Porco Rosso, and Whisper of the Heart all at this price. This is a great deal, because these discontinued releases are being resold at much higher prices online now. There were even used copies of the same titles sitting right next to them which were more expensive than the new copies.

GKIDS and Shout just put out Never-Ending Man: Hayao Miyazaki, a 2016 Japanese documentary that followed Miyazaki for the two years after announcing his retirement. It mostly focuses on his planned CGI short, Boro The Caterpillar. I'm not sure Miyazaki ever really retired, he just wanted to escape the pressure and attention of making another film with the whole world waiting.
