We’re at 55% of our goal to reprint Aria The Masterpiece!
Without the pre-orders that support the reprinting of Aria The Masterpiece Manga, many fans will be unable to complete their collections. Other printings of the manga are extremely unlikely.

Re: What manga have you read or/are currently reading?
I’ve been going through shelfloads and boxes of manga recently and I began piecing together the history of manga’s growing popularity in the U.S. in the 1990s, as reflected in my collection.
Here’s a link to the piece, "Japanese Comics: Discovering Manga in the 1990s":
https://briandanacamp.wordpress.com/...90s/#more-9334
In the process, I began re-reading some of it, including Ranma 1/2.

Re: What manga have you read or/are currently reading?
I still have all of my old Viz volumes, but have no idea what to do with them. I gave the Dragon Ball ones to my son and he just tears them up, which is fine.
You probably already know this but the "Lum" release of Urusei Yatsura jumped around quite a bit, and they cancelled it like multiple times because it could never catch on. But they are finally doing a "perfect" edition. A lot of the humor doesn't really hit with US audiences (hence the difficulty in getting it out even with Takahashi at the height of her popularity in the US in the 90s) but they do a good job of explaining it in detailed pieces within the volumes.
I see your previous article is about the manhua (and adaptations of) Storm Riders, and man I wish either Jademan or Comics One could've lasted longer. I still don't know how "Blood Sword" ends!

U.S. Justice Department Files Lawsuit Against Penguin Random House's Acquisition of Simon & Schuster
Penguin Random House signed deal last year to acquire Simon & Schuster for US$2.175 billion
The Wall Street Journal reported on Tuesday that the U.S. Justice Department filed a lawsuit on the same day that seeks to block Penguin Random House's upcoming purchase of publishing business Simon & Schuster due to antitrust concerns. The Justice Department said that if the deal went through, Penguin Random House would "hold unprecedented control and outsize influence over which books are published in the U.S. and how much authors are paid."
The publishers argue that the deal would improve efficiency and make titles more available to both retailers and consumers.
The American Booksellers Association (ABA) asked the Department of Justice in December 2020 to challenge the purchase due to antitrust implications, expressing concerns the purchase would lead to a large consolidation of power in the U.S. book publishing industry, which could make it more difficult for authors and editors to attract support they need to write books.
ViacomCBS announced in November 2020 that it had agreed to sell the publishing business Simon & Schuster to Penguin Random House LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Bertelsmann SE & Co. KGaA, for US$2.175 billion. The cash transaction was expected to close in 2021. After the purchase, Simon & Schuster would continue as a separate publishing unit under the Penguin Random House umbrella. Simon & Schuster's President and CEO Jonathan Karp and COO and CFO Dennis Eulau would continue to head the company.
Simon & Schuster distributes Viz Media manga and novel publications in North America.
Penguin Random House Publisher Services' clients include Seven Seas Entertainment, Kodansha USA Publishing (which handles the Kodansha Comics and Vertical imprints), Square Enix Holdings Co., Ltd. for its Square Enix Manga & Books publishing label, and Dark Horse Comics.

Yen Press is re-releasing their Pandora Hearts box set directly for sale on their website for $230 which has been out of print for years and going for $1500+ on ebay. I've always been interested in the series so I ordered it.

I just finished the novel on Kindle "Bofuri: I Don't Want to Get Hurt, so I'll Max Out My Defense" volume one., and started the novel "KonoSuba: God's Blessing on this Wonderful World!" volume one. I wanted to try my cellphones Talkback function to read Kindle books, I don't find it too bad I actually like it but its the only way I would read these novels.

Re: What manga have you read or/are currently reading?
I finished volume one, I am going to continue with Konosuba novels for now. I think Amazon should create a text to speech book reader app for Kindle, I think more people would buy books (I Would) and it wouldn't be as good as audiobooks.

I've been enjoying Sengoku Komachi Kuroutan. Right now it's only available as a scanlation. I wish it would get a US release. I thought they announced a while back that it would get an anime adaptation, but I haven't seen any news about it.

Bloomberg: Dark Horse 'Weighs Options That Could Include Sale'
The Bloomberg news website reported on Wednesday that North American comic book and manga publisher Dark Horse Comics is "working with an adviser to weigh options that could include a sale." Bloomberg said its reporting was according to "people familiar with the matter," and added it could not reach a Dark Horse representative for comment.
Bloomberg mentioned the situation in an article about a current boom for businesses selling content libraries.
