Oh man, I've missed domestic Gundam so much...

Re: Gundam in the US
For anyone who doesn't already know. Iron-Blood Orphans is apparently set in the same universe/timeline as Gundam 00.
It's nice to hear that Gundam dubs are still being done though. IBO first episode was already better than G-Reco or AGE ever thought about being so there's that too. IBO is the first Gundam series I'm really looking forward to since Gundam 00. |

Saw Turn-A Gundam in my video store yesterday: $49.95 each for Parts 1 & 2, which makes it $100 for the whole series. A bit steep if you ask me.

Not bad when Japan charges like $40 an episode. It's almost 80 bucks over there for a release with two episodes. |

- Turn A Gundam: performed about as expected (maybe a little more) - Mobile Suit Gundam (0079): peformed beyond expectations - SUNRISE happy with numbers with so far - Gundam Wing: when we get that far it will be on Blu-ray - Gundam biggest challenge: material delivery - Zeta Gundam Blu-ray: next Gundam BD, early 2016 |
Re: Gundam in the US
It's not super cheap or anything (like we're accustomed to around Black Friday, especially with RS around), but Amazon has Turn A collection 1 for less than 30 and First Gundam Blu for ~43, both somehow cheaper than RS. But remember, the RS sales haven't all been revealed yet...

Any chance of a re-release/repackaging for Gundam Unicorn on Blu-ray? Right now a complete set runs $350-450 on eBay.

Re: Gundam in the US
I wish ZZ and Turn-A at the very least would eventually get an English dub. Otherwise, I'm not interested in purchasing sub-only material. Even though I watch subs, I just never had the mindset to buy the home media of anime without a dub.

Here's the Toonami website link to confirm: http://www.adultswim.com/toonami/ This is the first new Gundam series on Cartoon Network in about ten years, right? Since Gundam Seed Destiny. Here's a link to the Toonami trailer: https://youtu.be/5a4q7733WYI [QUESTION: why can't we embed videos here anymore?] |
Re: Gundam in the US
I've been getting the Gundam Origins series from my local Japanese video store, paying $13 per episode. Last time I checked, Part 4 (the last in the series) wasn't yet released. Well, Right Stuf Anime announced pre-orders for the Blu-ray of Part 4 and guess how much they're charging for a 60-minute animated episode?
Read it and weep... http://www.rightstufanime.com/Gundam...984e-211146913 |
Re: Gundam in the US
They've all been that price, it's basically the Japanese release. Media prices in Japan are really high, which is why reverse exportation was a big concern for a lot of licensors. The 13 dollar stuff you've been getting are most likely bootlegs or taped copies.
Since it's already dubbed I'm fairly sure a cheaper domestic release will come along further down the line. You can also rent it on Amazon video. |
