2014 Fall Simulcasts

What are you going to watch?

List of Fall Simulcasts on Crunchyroll:

Tribe Cool Crew - Haneru Tobitatsu is a middle school student who loves dancing! He can even dance to the rhythm of the chalkboard in class. One day, Haneru meets Kanon, a shy girl who is practicing at a secret dance place. The two learn the joy of dancing together and find happiness in their dance moves.

CROSS ANGE Rondo of Angel and Dragon - Angelise is the first princess of the Empire of Misurugi. She is the celebrated ruler of the Empire until one day she finds out the shocking truth that she is a “Norma” – an irregular being who cannot use “Mana”, and are treated as "things" rather than people. Having her name taken from her, Ange isolates herself on a remote island. There, she finds a group of Norma women who spend their days hunting dragons that have come to invade.

The Fruit of Grisaia - Mihama Academy is a prison-like school built to preserve fruit that has fallen too far from its tree. It is home to five female students who each have their reasons for enrolling in the academy and live their life idly within the walls of Mihama. One day, Kazami Yuuji the institute’s first male student arrives and throws the orderly rhythm of Mihama off balance. Is Yuuji what the girls need to hold of their lives once more, or will the weight of their pasts prove too steep a wall to overcome? Or is his past even heavier than any of the others?

Yuki Yuna wa Yusha de Aru - Yuna Yuki is an ordinary second-year middle school student. She gets up in the morning, gets ready for school, goes to classes, participates in club activities, and has fun with her friends. But there is one extraordinary thing about Yuki -- she belongs to the “Brave Hero Club.” What does the Brave Hero Club do? Who is the mysterious being called “Vertex?” Yuki Yuna and her friends’ story takes place in Year 300, Era of the Gods.

DENKI-GAI- A blush-inducing, coming-of-age comedy about manga-loving book store employees!! The unique cast of characters -- all hard-core manga fans and maniacs of some sort -- work at comic shop “Uma no Hone.” On a daily basis, they display new releases, shrink-wrap comics, shudder at their lack of feminine qualities, question their love for porn literature…and basically have fun while working hard (?). Girls and guys call each other by nicknames and some begin to develop close relationships! It’s non-stop humor and romance in this book store rom-com!

Karen Senki - Karen leads the human resistance group, “11”. Having lost her little sister Touka in the war against these evolving machines, Karen’s strong motivation to save humanity is personal and raging for victory. Slowly growing distant and detached to numb her grief, Karen wants to inflict the same pain onto the machines as they have done to her. Can machines feel pain like humans?

TERRAFORMARS - With Earth becoming increasingly overpopulated, an ambitious plan has been put into place to terraform Mars using mold and cockroaches. Nearly 500 years after the plan, a mission to Mars, Annex 1, is under way to accomplish crucial research into the Virus currently plaguing mankind with the crew members who've been injected with various DNA of life on Earth in order to combat the Terraformars, giant humanoid cockroaches.

If its on Crunchyroll or not I'm going to watch Amagi Brilliant Park. So far that's the only one that looks good.

I'm curious about this one as well, along with Ushinawareta Mirai wo Motomete (Funimation).

I fully expect The Fruit of Grisaia to be predictable, but I'll watch it anyway.

I have the first season of Psycho-Pass in my Hulu+ queue but haven't started it, so I have yet to determine whether or not I have any interest in the second season (also Funimation). ;)

EDIT: I forgot about Log Horizon 2 on Crunchyroll, and I'm definitely in for that.

Gugure! Kokkuri-san - I loved this one. Absolutely hilarious. It's a early contender for my favorite show of the season. I can't wait to see more.

Wolf Girl and Black Prince - I usually like these Rom/Com shows. But so far this one is unimpressive. Neither of the main characters are particularly likeable. I might give it another 1-2 episodes to see if it improves.

DENKI-GAI - I wasn't crazy about it, which was disappointing because I thought it would be really good. Maybe it's one of those shows that grows on you. I'll keep watching. Hopefully it gets better.

I Can't Understand What My Husband Is Saying - It was funny. But with only 3-min episodes, there's no time for any plot. It's just a handful of short jokes, and that's about it. I'll probably keep watching.

Hard to go wrong with a description like this...

"Kohina Ichimatsu, the self-proclaimed doll, called out the fox ghost Kokkuri-san with a suspicious incantation! But it was a story of the past where Kokkuri-san was able to answer any question you had. Nowadays, it relies on a certain search engine, but is actually bad at anything digital. He was going to possess Kohina, but got worried about her living all alone and devotes himself to do chores as if he was her mother. On top of that, the dog ghost Inugami who is infatuated with Kohina and the old good-for-nothing supernatural raccoon dog Shigaraki decide to root themselves with her as well!"

;)

Funimation has it listed under In Search of the Lost Future.

Re: 2014 Fall Simulcasts

I was worried about watching the new Fate/stay night. I hadn't seen any of the previous series, and figured I'd be lost. But it was no problem. Episode 0 is a 45-minute prologue that introduces all the characters and sets-up the plot. Then Episode 1 is also 45-minutes that fills in any lingering holes. By the end of those two double-length episodes, you feel totally comfortable with the storyline.

I'm glad I gave it a chance, because so far it's an excellent series. I can't wait to see more.

So, far...

CROSS ANGE Rondo of Angel and Dragon - it's just okay and I'll keep watch...

The Fruit of Grisaia - It's just okay... will watch and see how it turns.

DENKI-GAI - it did got me laughing on some jokes.

Karen Senki - I lost interest in this series and there's no storyline and it seems that they were written by JR. high school kids who love C-list action movies.

TERRAFORMARS - I got to say it's really brutal story. Recent episode was probably the most gruesome battle and they even censored all bodies being torned up. I haven't seen that sort of thing since Elfen Lied & Attack on Titan.

The previous series is actually good series. I was exciting to see the newer one.

Log Horizon picked up right where it left off, although the first episode of this new season is bookended by scenes that don't make a whole lot of sense (yet). The last scene in particular is a head-scratcher, based on what we currently know about the Adventurers.

And...I give up after episode 2. A low grade show in every way.

Crunchyroll forum members are furious about the handling of this show. I'm not even going to bother with it if, as they say, over 75% of the screen is "blacked out" in parts.

When Supernatural Battles Became Commonplace - I'm really enjoying this show. The style and comedy reminds me a lot of Love Lab. If you liked that show, you should give this one a try.

Your Lie in April - The first episode was good, and I'm looking forward to seeing more. But I hope it doesn't devolve into annoying melodrama like Golden Time.

Celestial Method - I really liked the first two episodes. It kinda gives off an AnoHana feeling.

I am watching The Fruit of Grisaia on Crunchyroll.

The company Sekai Project that licensed Clannad visual novel for North America is starting a Kickstarter campaign in November for the visual novel trilogy of The Fruit of Grisaia.

Stop! While the Fate universe might be my favorite anime brand, you should much rather start with Fate / Zero, its prequel. I consider Fate/Zero one of the four or five best anime series of all time.

While you can watch Fate / Stay Night first, it takes place ten years after the events of Fate/Zero. Their events are connected. This new version of Fate / Stay Night is a more faithful adaptation of the light novels, though the first anime of it aired back in 2009.

Crunchyroll just backfilled all the missing Encouragement Of Climb: Season Two episodes. I'd been watching the fansubbed versions. This season has been excellent. One of my favorites shows of the year.

I swore I saw uncensored episodes on Crunchyroll last weekend, but it disappeared last Sunday night. I wonder why...

The second episode was markedly better than the first, although I'm annoyed by the amount of "useless" fanservice. It's completely out of place during the opening credits, and is just kind of "there" during the episodes, rarely played for laughs. They have otherwise done a nice job with the setup thus far, although I'm not convinced that any of the students actually study or learn anything at that school. ;)

It was a limited 24 hour run from 10/25-10/26. They will supposedly post the full uncensored series later on.

Re: 2014 Fall Simulcasts

Mentioning here too. Laughing Under the Clouds and PSYCHO-PASS 2 to be streaming soon with English dub. See below for additional details.

via PR...

Flower Mound, TX - (10/29/14) - FUNimation announced today the start of a new initiative--the FUNimation Broadcast Dub. Fans will soon be able to watch the English dubbed episodes of select shows that are currently broadcasting in Japan. FUNimation has experience with broadcast dubs, having had previous success dubbing the hit series Space Dandy for U.S. broadcast on Adult Swim. FUNimation Broadcast Dubs will be available exclusively for FUNimation subscribers commercial-free and streaming in 1080 HD.

Currently, new episodes are simulcast with Japanese audio and English subtitles shortly after the original broadcast in Japan. Once the series has finished simulcasting, final materials are received from Japan and work begins on the English dubbed home video release.

However, with this new initiative, select series will be dubbed into English using the broadcast/simulcast materials from Japan just weeks after broadcast. When asked why the company has decided to launch FUNimation Broadcast Dubs, founder and president Gen Fukunaga replied, "We know that anime fans have a strong interest in English dubs, so we are doing everything we can to get them to the fans as soon as possible.”

Following the release of the FUNimation Broadcast Dub, FUNimation will continue to produce a final English dub for the DVD/Blu-ray release, using materials from Japan’s DVD/Blu-ray release. This final version can be different from the broadcast version, including uncut footage not seen in the broadcast.

Two shows have been chosen from the current Fall 2014 season to launch the initiative--Laughing Under the Clouds and Psycho-Pass 2.

Fans will be able to watch Episode 1 of Laughing Under the Clouds in English on November 1st at 12:30pm ET/ 11:30am CT on http://funimation.com/laughing-under-the-clouds. A new episode will be released every Saturday at 12:30pm ET/ 11:30am CT. New episodes in Japanese with English subtitles are released every Friday at 2:28pm ET shortly after broadcast in Japan.

Series synopsis:

When swords were outlawed in the eleventh year of the Meiji era, the mighty samurai population began to dwindle. Those who rejected the ban on blades rebelled, causing violent unrest to erupt throughout the countryside. To combat the rise in criminal activity, an inescapable lake prison was constructed. Three young men, born of the Kumo line, were given the duty of delivering criminals to their place of confinement – but could there be more to their mission than meets the eye?

Episode 1 of Psycho-Pass 2 will be available in English on November 8th at 1:00pm ET/ 12:00pm CT on http://funimation.com/psycho-pass. A new episode will be released every Saturday at 1:00pm ET/ 12:00pm CT. New episodes in Japanese with English subtitles are available every Thursday at 12:50pm ET/ 11:50am CT shortly after broadcast in Japan.

Series synopsis:

Inspector Akane Tsunemori and her comrades at the Criminal Investigation Department return for the mind-blowing continuation of the popular sci-fi series set in a world where the justice system can read your mind – and justice is dispensed from the barrel of a gun. Pick up after the dramatic conclusion to season one, and see what happens to Akane after she learns the truth about the Sibyl System!

I've quickly fallen in love with When Supernatural Battles Become Commonplace, from Trigger. If you enjoyed Seitokai no Ichizon (Student Council's Discretion) at all, this is a very similar series with a lot of humor.

Trinity Seven hasn't done much for me in its first three episodes. There are only so many variations on a harem at a magic academy I can take.

I can take it or leave it. Each episode makes me laugh at least once, but a good chunk of it either goes over my head or just isn't funny.
