Re: Attack On Titan
I'm really diggin this series - currently watching it via Netflix streaming.

Re: Attack On Titan
I think the Titan's looks make the visuals really stand out, and make it even more creepy as they're cookie-monstering people.

Just finished this series last week. Really enjoyed it and anticipating the next season. I'm watching the OVAs now. |
Re: Attack On Titan
There was OVAs, I can't wait to get home now to watch them. I ended up really liking this anime.

While the last two were titled No Regrets Part 1 & 2 and was a prequel about the backstory of Erwin and Levi. There was also 9 chibi specials. Now there is a Junior High spin-off series coming out. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wm3WBqihF-A http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news...ptation/.91125 |
Re: Attack On Titan
Has anyone here seen the live-action movies? When will they be released on video in the US?

Re: Attack On Titan
Loved the anime and when it ended I started following the mangas. They're fun but damn, the writer/artist is dragging this thing out forever! I think that's the nature of most serialized mangas but it seems more noticeable in this series. One book I got from Barnes & Noble was almost all about them running from Titans. I was actually thinking that we would find out the mystery surrounding the basement but I don't care anymore. I will watch the anime when it comes back for Season 2 even though I already know what happens.

Re: Attack On Titan
Has it been confirmed they're making a second season? How many seasons are planned?

The latest issue of manga - it seems it has step up towards the basement. |

I think BigDave mentioned somewhere that it can run beyond season 3. But the Attack on Titans manga creator did mentioned specifically how many issues it will run. I cannot remember how many...
Back in 2013, the author said it would end with Volume 20. That would have been this coming Summer. The latest chapter is in the middle of Volume 19. Then in 2014, he said he wanted to flesh out the characters more and extended the ending to Volume 25. That's probably why the boring political coup arc dragged on for a year and a half. Anyways, it should end around Spring 2018. That'll give them enough content for a full Season Three. |

Re: Attack On Titan
With all these fucking delays it better be good.
|
Re: Attack On Titan
Hopefully it'll give them time to animate the whole thing instead of filling episodes with still frames.

Re: Attack On Titan
I don't consider it to have ever been delayed. Can't delay something that doesn't have enough material to adapt in the first place. Season 1 ended with adapting Chapter 35.
Today there is only 82 chapters out (78 if you go by the Chapters released in Volumes so far). That leaves 47 chapters currently available for an adaption. Considering they used 35 in Season 1, that's barely enough for a season 2 and still have a few chapters left depending on how they pace out the season. As such, there simply wasn't enough for a season 2 before now. If we consider where Season 2 will likely end so that it doesn't fall into the middle of an arc... It's gonna have to end with Chapter 70, which means another 35 chapter adaption for the season. |

Re: Attack On Titan
That's weird, I thought FUNi was going all-Dub.

Re: Attack On Titan
1st episode of the 2nd season aired last night on Adult Swim. Funi's site is premiering the dub today. I had no idea AS was airing this until I saw it listed in my recorded shows for my DVR.

Anywhere to watch this for free?
I missed the first ep last week. |

Re: Attack On Titan
Thanks guys.
I didn't even think to look on AS |
Re: Attack On Titan
Even though I'm all caught up with the manga, watching the story unfold in animated form is a real pleasure.
It's too bad they'll only be 12 episodes but the quality in each is really good. Spoiler:

Re: Attack On Titan
Man season 2 is already up to that part, huh? Makes me want to check out the reactions of anime only viewers to that last episode.
|
Re: Attack On Titan
When Season 1 ended I had to get my fix so I started reading the manga which was ahead of animated series. It was definitely good, but I preferred the story in the animated form.
Anyway, certain moments that I thought were serviceable in the manga, turned out to be very dramatic in Season 2. The manga creator Isayama mentioned that he uses the animated series to tweak or fix things from the manga, for example... Spoiler:
Like I said, there I prefer the anime, but the manga has some nuance that is left out from the other. Another example... Spoiler:

Re: Attack On Titan
That's good to hear. Hopefully it will be 20+ episodes and not 12.

Re: Attack On Titan
A 2-cour (22-25 episode) season 3 will leave the anime just about fully caught up with the manga which only releases one chapter a month. Which means we'd likely be looking at another 3-5 year delay before getting a season 4 at that rate.
The PV for Season 3 did hint at a 2-cour season though based on some of the things it showed being in some later chapters that they wouldn't reach in a single cour. Which leads me to believe it'd be a two cour season, but I'd honestly prefer to see a one cour season if it meant we could get a season every other year as opposed to multi-year gaps between future seasons. |

I think the manga is winding down though, so if it's popular it'll get animated soon enough.

Re: Attack On Titan
Kinda meh on the 2nd season. Not much ground was covered. Especially compared to the 1st.
|
Re: Attack On Titan
Yeah, but that's only because it was a lot less episodes. Had it been the same # as the first season it would have been perfect.
Do you guys watch it subbed or dubbed? Because I think the American voices are awful. Armin's voice doesn't match his body, Mikasa doesn't sound cool... Reiner is alright, but the original voice actors are overall just better. Eren's Titan yell is awful in the American version too. |
Re: Attack On Titan
Maybe but by episode 12 of season 1:
Spoiler:
|
Re: Attack On Titan
I think that's more because of the pacing of the manga. There's going to be a point, probably the end of season 3 or season 4, where things just seem to move at a crawl and it seems like an entirely different manga.
