So any word on domestic releases for Bandai properties (ie: Gundam)?

I remember being so excited when Bandai America first opened their Anime Village website and started selling Gundam VHS sets to the US. Now Bandai America is gone, and I haven't heard any word of other companies picking up the pieces. I can understand the old stuff coming to a stop for now... even though I'd love ZZ Gundam and Turn A, Victory, etc. But where's Gundam Unicorn? And AGE? And... other non Gundam stuff?

Is there anyone who would take this stuff other than Funimation?

IMO most of Bandai Ent's former titles won't be license rescued. There are only a handful of properties that could/should be rescued (like Cowboy Bebop, Escaflowne, Eureka Seven, Haruhi,...).

As for the Gundam franchise...I'm not very optimistic about it. Sunrise treats as a high tier property. It's a franchise that overall hasn't performed more than just okay in North America. The catch could be if Sunrise will require a North American distributor to license all Gundam properties or just select ones. If it's all (or most) of the Gundam properties, I think they will stay unlicensed. The probable candidates right now are FUNimation and Sentai Filmworks.

And here are the license rescued BEI properties:
- Akira (FUNimation - 2014)
- Blue Submarine No.6 (Discotek Media - later this year on DVD and Blu-ray)
- Gurren Lagann (Aniplex of America - to be released in May)
- Jubei Chan S1 (Media Blasters - released earlier this year)

I would have to agree, particularly anything that wouldn't translate well to Blu-ray.
