Re: Upcoming U.S. Anime Releases - 2013 Edition
I have a different anime version of WIZARD OF OZ from 1982 and it's feature-length, with English dub voice actors including Aileen Quinn (ANNIE) as Dorothy and Lorne Greene as the Wizard. I have it on VHS but I don't believe it ever came out on DVD. It's supposedly longer than the Japanese cut, so I'm assuming it was a co-production.
I've never seen the 1986 series cited by WTK in post #31 above, but I'd sure like to. Even though it's a cut-down version, it does offer a way to sample the series--and the price is right. |
Re: Upcoming U.S. Anime Releases - 2013 Edition
Never seen the series myself. As long as you are okay with the English dubbed version (and edited). It's definitely a cheap way to watch it. The price is pretty good as well. Keep in mind that this re-release is 2-discs and the previous release was 4-discs. I'm not sure if that will play a role on the video quality or not.

But when Sakura is taken with the intention of sacrificing her in order to summon the Grail, Shiro is forced to choose between two equally lethal options: Let Saber's mana continue at its existing level, almost certainly insuring her death as the battle wages on; or resupply her mana from his own magical circuit, reducing his power below that of the other Magus, and leaving both of them open to magical attack. Funimation Recalls / Postpones Release for Baka and Test Season 2 LE Today our copies of the Baka and Test Season 2 Complete Collection DVD/BLURAY Combo Set (Limited Edition) arrived from Funimation. Just as we were getting ready to print out the pre-order tickets to send them out to the floor to be filled (and in what is probably the first case of impeccable timing since I started in this business 14 years ago) a message from Funimation flashed up on my computer warning us that a defect had been discovered in the set and that Funi was recalling all the sets that had already shipped out. Apparently the sets shipped with the wrong art printed on the DVD disks. We will be returning our copies to FUni as requested, and they have pushed back the street date by two weeks to January 29th to facilitate the repressing and shipment of corrected sets. FUNimation Delays & Recalls BAKA AND TEST, Season 2 DVD/Blu-ray Combo Posted on: Friday, January 4, 2013 FUNimation has recalled and slightly delayed the BAKA AND TEST, Season 2 DVD/Blu-ray Combo that was scheduled for release on Jan. 15, 2013. (DVD 2 of the set incorrectly features the silkscreen art for Extras Disc 2, so it looks like there are two "extras" discs. The content on both discs is correct.) We've shipped our inventory back to FUNimation and replacement sets are on the way. However, a number of the Season 2 sets were already en route to customers before we were notified of the issue. Customers who have -- or will soon receive -- the set have the options to keep the set "as is" or contact customer care to receive a copy of the corrected disc (at no charge), when it is available. |
