Awesome! And about friggin time! These were movies that sparked my interest in anime when they aired on Sci-Fi's anime week back in the day. I had seen a bunch of anime before Galaxy Express 999, but I didn't realize it.

Can I get a resounding 'YES!" from someone?! This is literally the best Blu-ray news I have heard in a long time. Well, not to exaggerate too much, but this is great news to my ears. Cowboy Bebop remains my all time favorite anime.

Good as those movies were, I had one gripe with them: they were long movies. And that's kind of unusual for anime in Japan, since anime "movies" shown in theaters in Japan tend to be around 65-70 minutes long and run as part of a double-bill show.

FUNimation Reschedules Dragon Ball Z Kai Season 1 Part 5
Posted on: Friday, March 11, 2011

FUNimation announced Dragon Ball Z Kai Season 1 Part 5 on Blu-ray and DVD, which will now street June 7, 2011. This change has been noted in our system and will be automatically reflected in customer orders.
EDIT: It looks like RACS has the wrong date.

Funimation Delays Dragon Ball Z Kai Vol #5 DVD & BD

Funimation has pushed back the date for the 5th volume of the Dragon Ball Z Kai DVD and BD - from May 3rd to June 17th. I think this probably has something to do with the little Toei 'music' copyright violation thing that cropped up recently.

Great news about Bebop. It's currently $12.49 for presale on Amazon. Locked mine in, can't say no at that price =D

The news was about COWBOY BEBOP: THE MOVIE, not the TV series. The series was great, the movie was awful.

Funimation Pushes Rosario Yet Again - Now to December

Funi just sent over a note letting us know that they have pushed Rosario - again - now to December. All things considered, I'm really not sure what the point of even giving it a date at all. Perhaps they should just list it as TBD until they workout whatever the issue is that's holding it up.

Rosario+Vampire Complete Collection DVD Boxed Set (Eps #1-13) - Sep 27 to Dec 20
Rosario+Vampire Capu2 (Season 2) Complete DVD Boxed Set (Eps #14-26) - Sep 27 to Dec 20

I was told a while back that the Rosario delays were unique and were being caused by a materials issue, which would makes sense if it was delayed a couple three month, but this is something else. I wonder if they are having an issue with a license approval or some other legal requirement? These delays feel contractual in nature...
TRSI was smart to leave it as a TBD status.

And the time line looks like this now: 12/20/11 (Was 9/27/11, 8/30/11, 7/19/11, 5/17/11 and 3/29/11)

Really looking forward to this.

I have the first two DVDs originally released and then a couple of the subsequent releases as well as the movie.

It will be nice to have the entire series in newly updated boxsets.

What's to be surprised about?

I'm going to copy & paste this response from AoD.

a) FUNimation never pursued the Blu-ray rights, due to lack of interest or initiative.
b) FUNimation investigated the Blu-ray rights, but passed as a result of cost or other licensing issues.
c) FUNimation was unable to acquire the Blu-ray rights, due to Aniplex Japan not making them available (though not necessarily because they knew they were going to take care of it themselves and were being stingy; the Japanese have withheld licensing rights to all sorts of things for all sorts of reasons).
The series was acquired by FUNimation during the latter days of single releases. The series was also rushed out early so it can be released. Rights for additional on-disc extras weren't fully acquired until the first complete collection was released. Blu-ray rights are always considered separate from DVD rights (same thing can be said for streaming ones as well) unless acquired all together at once.
