Need help with the title of an anime.

All I remember is that it came on Adult Swim when they first aired FLCL and the main character played a guitar.

No. The one I'm thinking of also had robots in it I think. I could be wrong though.

main character in FLCL has a guitar and there are robots, maybe you answered your own question :)

Adult Swim didn't have "that" many animes airing at that time.
Others might be trigun, Cowboy Bebop, or big-O or even flcl itself.
