P.S. I just checked it on ANN. Osamu Dezaki's not involved, so that can't be good. And it's a TV series, so it can't possibly have the high levels of sex and violence that made Dezaki's versions so memorable. Has anyone seen this series and can report on it?
I finished watching this set recently. I really liked it. I have never seen the movies though. You can watch the first episode (dubbed) for free @ Anime Network.

Just ordered Last Exile: Complete Collection (Blu-ray). I have been asking for this since Funimation licensed it.

The long OOP Tokyopop DVD release (and their first) is now available for order again (though in DVD-R) via CreateSpace (like what they did for Rave Master earlier this year). The disc price is $12.99. It's uncertain at this point in time if there is going to be a limited run for this release (like Rave Master).

For those who want to try the movie out, it's available for viewing @ Hulu.

I'm going to wait this one out and see how the PQ/AQ is. AFAIK this would be their oldest upscale to date, so it would be a real test on if their processing has improved (or not).

This isn't one of those cases where the movie was released and then immediately recalled, was it? Or is it just insanely expensive?

Vol.1 did come out. It started off as an Amazon.com exclusive. It eventually was made available @ Bandai Entertainment Store. RightStuf.com sells them now. Same thing can be said for Robert's Anime Corner Store. TRSI and RACS though probably buys its stock fro the BEI Store.

The cheapest price for Vol.1 @ Amazon.com was $34.99. It's priced this way is because this is technically a worldwide Japanese release. It's also made available here, UK, Hong Kong, Taiwan,...

Vol.2 is priced higher due to supposedly more bonus content. And it's highly likely that you will see this with Netflix. You definitely won't see this in B&M retail stores.

Has there been any word on any sort of sequel to Berserk? I can't believe the studios stopped making this series, given all the material left in the manga.

Re: Upcoming U.S. Anime Releases - 2010 Edition

I am definitely getting Taishō Yakyū Musume because it's a surprisingly good series that looks at Japan as it is modernizing in the early 20th Century. Of interest in that series is people eating youshoku cuisine (Western cuisine adapted for Japanese tastes that is now enjoying a major revival in Japan).
