No Anime/Manga fan here but...

Is Dragonball Z around anymore? When I was about 9 (21 now), I use to watch that show all the time. Is that considered a Anime/Manga? Do they still make new episodes at all? I just remembered at the time I was OBSESSED with that show haha.

They've been releasing DVD box sets of the uncut original Japanese version of the series, with both Japanese and English tracks. If you've only seen the English dubbed edited TV eps., then you've never really seen the series. And this is esp. true of DRAGON BALL, the earlier series.

And yes, it's an anime series based on a long-running manga series, which is also out in English now.

There was a sequel series to Dragonball Z, called Dragonball GT, which was not based on manga and which I would not recommend watching. It focuses mainly on Goku, who has been reverted to a little kid again, Gohan's daughter Pan, and a teenage Trunks, trying to gather Dragon Balls much like the original series. It then devolves into endless fighting, presumably in an effort to get better ratings.

I think they're also doing an HD version of Dragonball Z, where they edit the footage to more closely adhere to the manga and redub all the parts (in Japanese) which began airing in Japan recently. I don't think there's any new footage, though.
