Crunchyroll Updates Pricing for Mega, Ultimate Fans with Upgraded Benefits and More Anime

Read on for a full breakdown of the new Crunchyroll pricing tiersCrunchyroll announced today that it’s updating the pricing for its Mega Fan and Ultimate Fan subscription tiers in select countries—the platform's first pricing change since 2019—reflecting the company’s investment in more anime, additional services like music and games, and additional subscriber benefits.

The change will impact pricing in Argentina, Colombia, France, Portugal, the United States and select additional countries. As part of these updates in the United States, the Mega Fan tier will increase to $11.99/month (from $9.99/month), while the Ultimate Fan tier will increase to $15.99/month (from $14.99/month). The existing Fan tier will remain unchanged at $7.99/month.

The Crunchyroll free-trial period has also shifted to seven days of free viewing from the previous 14 days. The pricing and free trial changes are the first and only price changes to Crunchyroll since 2019—new membership tiers and benefits were introduced in 2020, along with a price decrease in nearly 100 territories in July 2022.

Crunchyroll’s ad-supported option also remains unchanged, and fans can watch more than 1,000 hours of anime for free.

The price change reflects the increase in content on Crunchyroll in recent years, expanding its catalog to more than 45,000 episodes via 1,400 series and films. That means it would take nearly two years to watch everything on Crunchyroll!
Highlights include the just-launched Spring 2024 anime season featuring more than 50 simulcast series (doubling its previous average of 20-25 series per season) and music videos from superstar musicians as part of Crunchyroll’s partnership with Sony Music Entertainment Japan.

This price adjustment news comes just after Crunchyroll announced it's launching the Crunchyroll Store in Europe, and just days after the highly requested Multiple Profiles feature launched on the platform, allowing multiple users in the same household to have their own customizable profiles, watchlist and recommendations.

New MeTV Toons Channel Launches in Summer With Speed Racer, Marine Boy Anime

Classic television network MeTV (Memorable Entertainment Television) announced on Wednesday that it is launching a channel for classic cartoons titled MeTV Toons this summer. The new network will broadcast the Speed Racer anime, among other series. The gallery of characters on Me TV Toons' website also shows the Marine Boy anime and the Silverhawks animated show.

The new 24/7 network will feature animated series from past decades such as Bugs Bunny & Friends, Tom and Jerry, Popeye, Scooby Doo, Rocky and Bullwinkle, Jonny Quest, The Flintstones, The Jetsons, The Smurfs, Yogi Bear, Inspector Gadget, Wacky Races, and Freakazoid!

Animation historian Jerry Beck will also produce original content related to the MeTV Toons library. Voice actor Bob Bergen (Porky Pig, Marvin the Martian) will be the announcer for MeTV Toons.

MeTV Toons will be available on broadcast television, traditional and virtual operators, and on ad-supported streaming services.
