Based On The Legendary Mazinger Z Sci-Fi Series, Feature Film Will Debut In U.S. Movie Theaters In February 2018
San Francisco, CA, January 12, 2018 - Toei Animation Inc. and VIZ Media, LLC (VIZ Media), a premier company in the fields of publishing, animation distribution, and global entertainment licensing, have jointly announced the acquisition of the MAZINGER Z: INFINITY feature film.
MAZINGER Z is one of Japan's most revered sci-fi properties. The new film, which was produced by Toei Animation, takes place ten years after the conclusion of the famed Mazinger Z TV series. VIZ Media has secured the theatrical, broadcast, digital streaming, EST, and home video rights for the U.S. and Canada from Toei Animation.
In addition, in partnership with Fathom Events, MAZINGER Z: INFINITY will receive a special two-night-only presentation across the U.S. on Sunday, February 11 and Monday, February 12 (English-subtitled both dates). Attendees will also receive an exclusive MAZINGER Z: INFINITY poster (while supplies last). The MAZINGER Z: INFINITY movie is based on the classic manga series by the immutable creator, Go Nagai. It follows our hero, Koji Kabuto, in an action-packed adventure where only he can choose his ultimate path! Ten years ago, the villainous scientist Dr. Hell led his wicked followers, known as the Underground Empire, in a struggle to destroy all of humanity. It was against these forces that the young hero Koji Kabuto fought, piloting the legendary super robot 'Mazinger Z." Koji's victory stopped Dr. Hell's evil plan and returned peace to the Earth. Now Koji has left the pilot seat behind and become a scientist in his own right, following in his father's and grandfather's footsteps. Yet an unexpected encounter deep under Mt. The movie's storyline follows after the events of Season 2 ("Free! -Eternal Summer-") and leading up to Season 3 of the series, which will premiere this summer. "Free! -Take Your Marks-" will be screened in Japanese with English subtitles in select theaters nationwide on Wednesday, March 14, 2018 as a one-night-only event style release with a special pre-show. The pre-show will include an exclusive animated greeting and introduction to the film by the Free! characters that was previously only available in Japanese theaters, as a well as a movie photo session offering fans the opportunity to take and post pictures and become part of the event itself. Advance tickets for film will be available for purchase beginning February 13, 2018 on the movie's official website (funimationfilms.com/free) which will launch later this month.

SANTA MONICA, CA (January 17, 2018) - Aniplex of America announced on their livestream that they will begin streaming Today’s MENU for EMIYA Family on Crunchyroll beginning January 25th. The series, which originated as a spin-off manga by TAa/TYPE-MOON, will be produced by Fate series dream team, Hikaru Kondo and the prestigious studio ufotable, both credited for the success of Fate/stay night [Unlimited Blade Works], Fate/Zero, and most recent smash hit film, Fate/stay night THE MOVIE [Heaven’s Feel] I. presage flower. Two more heavy hitting veterans within the Fate franchise, Takahiro Miura (Fate/stay night [Unlimited Blade Works]) and Tetsuhito Sato (the Garden of sinners, God Eater), will be serving as directors for the series. The series’ character design is by Toko Uchimura, who is well recognized for designing Katsugeki! TOUKEN RANBU main character, Izuminokami Kanesada. A new episode of Today’s MENU for EMIYA Family will be available on the 1st of every month on Crunchyroll with the first episode kicking off on January 25th.

SANTA MONICA, CA (January 18, 2018) - Aniplex Inc. announced today that they will be developing the manga series about anthropomorphized cells within the human body, Cells at Work!,into a TV anime series. Aniplex of America also launched a teaser site and a Facebook page for the brand new action comedy anime slated to debut in summer of this year. The series is an anime adaptation of popular manga series by Akane Shimizu from publisher Kodansha's shonen manga magazine Monthly Shonen Sirius. Animation production will be handled by anime powerhouse david production (Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, ERASED) with Kenichi Suzuki (Drifters, Crayon Shin-chan) as director, series composition by Yuko Kakihara (Persona 4: The Animation, Digimon Adventure tri.), and character design by Takahiko Yoshida (Honey and Clover, Oreimo2). The highly anticipated series is scheduled to premiere July of 2018.

SANTA MONICA, CA (February 14, 2018) - Aniplex of America launched the official U.S. website and announced the acquisition of PERSONA5 the Animation, the highly-anticipated anime adaptation of the best-selling JRPG series by game developer, ATLUS. The Aniplex of America YouTube page also released an English subtitled trailer giving fans a sneak peek into what to expect this spring season. Following the release of the anime OVA PERSONA5: the Animation -THE DAYBREAKERS-, which coincided with the Persona 5 game's release, fans will now get to enjoy a full length TV series detailing the adventures of the Phantom Thieves of Hearts. Key creators of the original game reunite for the highly anticipated series, including sound composer Shoji Meguro providing the stylized and jazz-themed soundtrack, Katsura Hashino credited for the Original Concept, and ATLUS's own Shigenori Soejima providing the series' Original Character Design. Critically acclaimed animation studio A-1 Pictures (Sword Art Online, Blue Exorcist) will produce the series with Director Masashi Ishihama (ERASED, Your lie in April) bringing the game to the TV screen. When Japan is hit by the twin disasters of the eruption of Mt. Fuji and a massive earthquake, the island nation gets literally shattered and torn in two. With millions dead and the life-sustaining national infrastructure destroyed, mass evacuation of much of the country’s population was the only alternative. Now the Japanese refugees living in Taiwan find themselves in conflict with the native citizens. There’s not enough work, the living conditions are terrible, and what remains of Japan is occupied by China in the north and the U.S. in the south. Genichiro Ryu is just one of the survivors, but having been adopted by Taiwanese parents, he has a foot in both worlds and seeks to find a way to bring peace between the conflicting sides in A Spirit of the Sun.
