Macross II is almost universally panned but having Haruhiko Mikimoto designs, releasing in English and after a dearth of Macross for so long, I loved it. That opening still triggers something in me. I kinda want the full artbook instead of the amray one...

No English audio is understandable but regrettable, though.

Crunchyroll to Release SPY x FAMILY CODE: White to Theaters Worldwide in 2024

Crunchyroll is happy to announce today Loid, Yor, Anya and Bond are arriving at a theater near you next year! In collaboration with Sony Pictures Entertainment, SPY x FAMILY CODE: White will release in North America, Latin America, Australia/New Zeleand and select countries in Europe (Austria, Benelux, France, Germany, Italy, the Nordics, Portugal, Spain and Switzerland). The film will be available in Japanese with English subtitles and dubbed in English.

SPY x FAMILY CODE: White is directed by Takashi Katagiri at WIT STUDIO and CloverWorks, with the original story by manga author Tatsuya Endo and screenplay by Ichiro Okouchi. The film will release in Japan on December 22, 2023.

The 15th anniversary project to celebrate the movie releases of GURREN LAGANN is now here!

GURREN LAGANN (aired from April to September 2007) was Director Hiroyuki Imaishi’s (known for PROMARE, KILL la KILL, and Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt) first TV anime series. The series won the 11th Japan Media Arts Festival Animation Division Excellence Award; with a striking style of direction and unforgettable dialogue, the series captivated and charmed audiences in Japan and abroad. The first film premiered in 2008, with all the lines re-recorded and new scenes added to release as GURREN LAGANN THE MOVIE -Childhood’s End- and later in 2009 with GURREN LAGANN THE MOVIE -The Lights in the Sky Are Stars-.

Kazuki Nakashima, known for his work on PROMARE, KILL la KILL, and Batman Ninja, worked on the screenplay while Atsushi Nishigori was responsible for character design. The mecha designs were brought to audiences by genius You Yoshinari.

In addition to bringing back GURREN LAGANN THE MOVIE - Childhood’s End - and GURREN LAGANN THE MOVIE - The Lights in the Sky Are Stars - to theaters again, this project will, for the first time ever, see the movies come to audiences in 4D.

[ STORY ]
This is the tale of a man who has yet to realize what his destiny is.

Far in the future, a young boy named Simon digs holes in an underground settlement called Giha Village. With his older brother figure Kamina and a young woman named Yoko who’s fallen underground from the surface, the three set out to pursue their dreams of the surface world. As the group makes new friends, they are joined by a mecha in the shape of a face called Lagann. Together, they set out for Teppelin—the headquarters of the Spiral King, the king of the beastmen and ruler of the surface world.

After overcoming intense battles with the Spiral King, humans, now having regained control of the surface world, are faced yet again with another unknown enemy. To save humanity from this predicament of absolute despair and hopelessness, Simon and Team Dai-Gurren push their way through the galaxies for a heroic fight.

My Hero Academia Season 7 Anime Premieres May 4, 2024

My Hero Academia Memories will air through April 2024

After the announcement earlier this week that My Hero Academia Season 7 will air next spring, the official website for the series alongside TOHO animation released a new trailer for the upcoming season, teasing Romi Park's role as Stars and Stripes, as well as announcing Season 7 will begin on May 4, 2024.

My Hero Academia Memories will broadcast on April 6, 13, 20 and 27 before the premiere of the new season. The four special episodes will look back at the epic moments of the series thus far with some new scenes that lead into the seventh season of the series.

Alongside the series, the stage at Jump Festa 2024 revealed that the next My Hero Academia anime film will be released in Summer 2024 in Japan. An updated visual with the release window was unveiled.

Day 1 Update

One day in and we're almost at 200% of goal! TYVM everyone.

We are busy reviewing the comments and passing on the best suggestions to BIGWEST for discussion. Thanks for being so passionate about the directions you'd like to see the project take.

As the stretch goal got smashed in just a few hours, we have already contacted Mikimoto-sensei and asked him to get started on the new art. However, we now have the problem of figuring out more stretch goals to add to the project.

While this is clearly in the category of "problems you want to have", we'd appreciate your feedback on this too. In particular, we're looking for ideas that will benefit backers at every pledge level. We have our own ideas of course, but getting a broader perspective is always good -- those of you who participated in the preview know how that feedback shaped the final campaign.

Finally, the UHD poll results are promising; so far about 400 of you have indicated you are interested in a UHD release, which is almost half-way to the 1000 we think we need to make it fiscally prudent. If UHD is something you'd consider, please fill out the poll!

First film for the series to screen on January 9-10, 2024

Following the latest update from Japan on GREAT PRETENDER razbliuto, Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Entertainment announced plans to bring the first anime film in the series to theaters in the United States. Screenings are planned as part of a special two-day event on January 9 and 10, 2024.

GREAT PRETENDER razbliuto features a standalone story that follows self-proclaimed genius con artist Dorothy as she makes her way through Asia while facing an unexpected threat. Hiro Kaburagi is back in the director's chair for this one, with Ryota Kosawa on script supervision and WIT Studio handling animation production.

Day 6 Update - Patrons, Books, Goodies and More.

Now that the initial rush has settled down and we're into the mid-campaign period, it's time for a general update and a few announcements.

First of all, on Saturday at 8AM ET we will add 15 Prominent Patron and 30 Patron slots, so that people who want to support at that level but missed out in the initial mad rush will have a second bite at the apple.

Secondly, as some commenters have noted, we have passed the point at which economies of scale make a hardcover artbook feasible. So unless quite a few of you change your minds, that's going to happen. Yeah!

Finally, we've definitely got some room in the project to upgrade things in other ways. In addition to new digital features on the disc, we are looking at possible physical additions to the set.

One thing we would like feedback from you on is possible additional physical items. Some possibilities that we are kicking around:

• Embroidered Patch (not just as an add-on, but as something everyone gets)
• Sticker Sheet
• UN SPACY ID Card (Macross II version) (possibly several variants for each of the main characters)
• Culture Park Admission Ticket

However, we definitely want to hear your best ideas -- just keep in mind that items that are flat and thin are easier and often cheaper to ship (especially for US recipients), and the less we spend on shipping, the more we can spend on the extra goodies.

The final decision usually comes down to balancing costs, coolness, and how many bottles of Tylenol are needed to deal with all the inherent logistics headaches.

In other news, we have been discussing your add-on ideas with BIGWEST and they like a lot of them. In particular, posters, wall-scrolls and t-shirts will almost certainly be possible, but we won't be able to work out the final details until Mikimoto-sensei delivers the new artwork -- and we've already given him the go-ahead to start working up some design ideas.

Posters and wall-scrolls are reasonably straightforward (we've done them before), but t-shirts might be a bit of a headache. What might work is some sort of print-on-demand system, as long as we can find a way to limit it to backers of the project.
