The Official 2010 Rank 'em as You Hear Them Thread
With little more than a week left in the year & many great 2010 albums already starting to be available to listen to it's that time for the hardcore music lovers like myself to use this thread to keep track & rankings of your favorite new music of 2010.

There are some simple rules to follow:
This thread is for ranking albums that are released in 2010 only. This does not include reissues or albums that you have purchased/heard for the first time this year but were released in prior years. This does not include albums released at the end of 2009 or that you just discovered in 2010.
Keep your list in one post (edit!) and keep them in some sort of order
Note: Please don't use a "placeholder" post if you don't actually plan on updating your list.
You know who you are!
I'm usually pretty active in this thread & I buy a ton of music, so I would like to go back to compiling a list at the end of the year & I will count everyone's rankings to make a DVD Talk Best Music of 2010 final list.
Check out each other's list, see if your tastes are similar & try something new, & hopefully we can all check out some great new music in 2010!

Everything Else (newly discovered or rediscovered):
The Flaming Lips - Embryonic (13 Oct 2009) - Didn't like it when it first came out, but recently rediscovered it over the weekend. One of their best albums!
The XX - XX (06 Oct 2009) - Didn't expect to like this as much as I do after only hearing "Crystalized"
The Flaming Lips - The Dark Side of the Moon (22 Dec 2009) - TFL and friends cover the Pink Floyd classic. I love it.
The Butterfly Effect - Final Conversation of Kings (07 JUL 2009) - One of my favourite Australian bands. Not as heavy as their previous work, but still manages to be exactly what I wanted from them. Very good.

1. Vampire Weekend - Contra (5/10) Very much a disappoinment after their energetic and catchy debut. "Cousins" is the only song that stands out to me.
2. Surfer Blood - Astro Coast (4/10) 2010's overhyped indie band of the year.
3. Owen Pallett - Heartland (8/10) Pretty damn good and emotional. Definitely the first notable album of 2010.
4. Fucked Up - Couple Tracks (9/10) Extremely impressive gathering of singles from one of Canada's top 5 bands in the world right now.

Gorillaz - Plastic Beach - Great album, awesome beats, this will be on constant rotation
David Byrne and Fatboy Slim - Here Lies love - Very ambitious album, a lot to take in, but man did I enjoy it, so much 70's funkyness.
Black Keys - Brothers - Another great album by these guys, might have to see them live finally
Dead Weather - Sea of Cowards - Really digging this album, short and rockin. I like it more than Horehound
LCD Soundsystem - This is Happening - Only track I didn't like that much was Drunk Girls. I don't care how much of a Talking Heads rip off Pow Pow is, the song is awesome.
Broken Bells - Broken Bells - Never heard much of The Shins but this is making me want to check some out
Hot Chip - One Life Stand - Really dug this album, it reminded me of a mellow Passion Pit/ Cut Copy
Holy Fuck - Latin - cool album, tight grooves. Nothing as catchy as Lovely Alien or Safari but still fun.
