Post movies that get better with age.
and when i mean "age" i was thinking of taking it in 1 of 2 ways or both.
1) a movie that you watched once, thought it was ok, maybe nothing outstanding, but it festered and you thought about it and then maybe regarded it much more upon reflection and subsequent viewings...
2) a movie that as you got older, wiser, maybe matured into your movie tastes more became much better and you were able to appreciate more...
one movie for me that i don't think i quite "got" at first because i don't think i got the Coen Brothers humor or quirky nature of filmmaking.
But after seeing their other films over time and discovering a likeness for their work since, including "Blood Simple", "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" and "The Big Lebowski" (which i still don't regard as highly as some), i grew much more fond of one of my picks and really enjoy it now.
came to understand the performances and the quirky sensibilities and just grew to love it more and more. ...

The Empire Strikes Back. Was my least favorite of the Star Wars Trilogy as a kid, and then when I got older, the dark-tone really appealed to me. Now it is one of my favorite movies of all-time, as this movie is as good as a Sci-Fi movie can get, IMO.

Near Dark - wasn't so hot on it the first time I watched it, now I think it's a fantastic take on vamp flicks.
Slither - I guess I didn't know what to expect in theaters because I thought it was just ok. Bought it on DVD and wondered what the hell was wrong with me.

Too many to list, these came to mind quickly. They get better every time I watch them, and I appreciate more as I get older.

Dark City and Blade Runner
First time I watched it made me appreciate how beautiful movies can be and how powerful some stories are.
Needless to say, many movies of today are lacking that formula. Alot of movies is all CGI graphic show (example: 2012) with no deep plot/story.

Superman The Movie (1978) it's timeless and I never get tried of it (and it still get's to me after all these years).

And it's not just the "darkness", it is simply the most well-constructed film of the saga.
More recently, Cars. Was kinda "meh" when seeing it in the theaters, and I just bought the DVD recently and watched it a couple times already and it's growing on me.
Still can't get over that Skynet/post-human holocaust feel, but the rest of it is growing on me.

Too many to name, but most recently, The Truman Show. I've watched it about 4 times since 1998. I watched it for a fourth time, around a year ago. It got a little better each time. By the fourth viewing, I realized why this is so raved.

I go back to that movie as the start of a Jim Carey movie not being worth going to see if I want laughs.
