Well, their timing stinks. I wonder if they'll ring things up differently so you could return two and end up with a $40 game? If not, it's a good deal for people who want Ratchet & Clank, Forza 3 and Tekken 6 since they all come out next Tuesday.

I'm guessing that the people that don't like the timing have it have their eyes on a game(s) that come out after this deal.

I hoping to score some more Wii games or mix and match them with Xbox 360 games.

Sweet, this is great timing. Just got Borderlands today as a gift. I'll keep it sealed until Sunday, put in $60 more and get two more games. Maybe FIFA 10 and Smackdown or Demon's Souls. Or Metroid Prime Trilogy. Or a placeholder for Dragon Age or Modern Warfare 2. Hmmmm.

No, only on games $59.99 or less. As far as I know, DJ Hero only comes in the bundled set (game + turntable controller), which makes sense.

I just don't understand why it would matter though. I mean, as long as the free game $59.99 or less... right?

I'd be getting DJ Hero $119.99 + another game at $59.99 ... and then a free one at $59.99 or less. No?

Does Best Buy "price adjust" to deals or just prices? I ask this because I bought Uncharted 2 last week.

Probably not, but I would ask a manager when you go in to buy your games. A manager with common sense (they do exist, right? ) would allow it since you're basically spending an extra $60. It can't hurt to ask.

Yea, I'll give it a shot. Any person in their right mind would see how it should be allowed.

How often does TRU do these sales? I want to wait and grab Uncharted 2, Arkham Asylum, and Assassin's Creed II. ACII doesn't come out until November 17th though, so I'm trying to figure how long the wait will be versus picking a different game now and just picking up ACII separately.

The week after the TRU sale means I already picked up what I want (except R&C) and have just spent a fortune on games. If this sale was like a month later, I could get stuff like L4D2, MW2, Lego RB, etc and I would have had a little spending break in between.

TRU does its sale once a year (though they used to have a console-specific one at some other time during the year). The Best Buy one is brand new.

Why doesn't everyone who just bought a game from there within the past few weeks just go back in, rebuy the game (along with whatever other two they want), and then just return this new sealed copy on their original receipt?
As long as you are within an allowed 30 day time frame for returns, this is perfectly legitimate...a copy is a copy is a copy, I still don't understand why I have sometimes seen some people online act like the disc they bought a week or two ago has to be the one specifically returned, as if it is unique or something to the original purchase....

Placeholders work in the TRU sale, but I'd suspect that BB does it differently, where each item rings up at $40 so a placeholder would only net you a $40 credit on a game released later (i.e. no discount). Also BB can sometimes be a real pain and insist that items bought as a "bundle" be returned as such so if even one game gets opened, you're stuck with all three.

Well the timing is perfect for me seeing as how TRU didn't even carry Demon's Souls or Fallout 3 GOTY.

Yeah I'm planning to get 3 I want, so even if the placeholder thing doesn't work I won't be broken up.

Timing totally stinks. Just bought Smackdown vs Raw. Best Buy's policy states if the item you bought goes on sale within 30 days, they'll honor the new price. But I don't know how that works with a buy 2 get one free dilio.

I'm guessing that Best BUy had a bunch of people pricematching the Toys R Us sale last week and are deciding to get in on the action to drive their own sales.

But yes, the timing stinks as I can't drop that kind of money two weeks in a row, even though there are 3 more games I'd want to get.

My BB rang up my pricematch last week with two full price games and a freebie. I made sure that the game I was def keeping rang up as the freebie. They were more than happy to oblige and actually suggested I do it that way if I wasn't sure I was keeping the two others.

I think that is exactly how it will work. Each game will ring up as $40 and if you go to return or exchange one, you will only have $40 in credit.

I bought a cordless phone a couple of weeks ago and had a 12% off coupon. The following week the same phone was on sale and I went to get a PM. They only refunded me the difference between the new sale price and the price I actually paid for the item (orig price - 12% off). I tried to argue that I should get the orig price minus the new sale price (since a coupon was not a sale price) but their system would not even allow it. I think this works the same way when you use Reward Zone $. If you look at your receipt the next time you use RZ$ and buy multiple items, it divides the RZ$ by how many items you purchased and subtracts that amount from each item ($10RZ used, bought 2 items, it will subtract $5 from each item), hence giving you the price you "paid" for each item.

Last edited by Gooter; 10-22-09 at 09:04 AM. Reason: Added $10 RZ to my example.
