Did I recieve a "bootleg" copy of Tales/Crpyt season 6?
Could some1 post pics of what this set is suppose to look like. The copy I received has "Tales from the crypt" written in black over top the main Title on the cover. The other sets don't have this. Also, it says "season 6" in the top left corner of the front cover, where as the others say this on the top left corner of the main top portion of the DVD box. Also, it doesn't have slip cases, it has cheaply made DVD holders such as Mill Creek dvd boxes or something. The actual discs have pictures n such as the dvds should, but they still look cheaply made.

^ mine looks like the above as well...
So I'm leaning towards a yes to your question.
I've gotten bootlegs off of e-Bay before (that is why I no longer buy DVDs from there) that have looked as though they could be legit but there were slight variations on the artwork & disc art that shouted bootleg. To an average buyer they might not even be able to tell.

The seller may have been suckered into obtaining this as well and then tried to pass it on to someone else (hoping that someone else wouldn't care or notice).

The bootleg sets also have the season number on the upper left corner, right above the "terror" text that goes down the left side.

Has there ever been a thread that started "Did I receive a bootleg..." or words to that effect, where the answer turned out to be "No"?

I gotta say, those are pretty nice looking for bootlegs. I would never have guessed from the pic.
I've read that anyone can hire companies in the far east to produce a quantity of anything, right from your own specific design and provided media masters (say, a cracked and re-burned Region 1 DVD). They don't answer to copyright laws, just to your cash. I wish I could remember the article. It said that a lot of the Disney bootlegs are manufactured this way. An experienced designer with a knowledge of DVD packaging and an original version in hand could get pretty dang close.
These companies will do runs of 5,000 and don't care where the product ends up.
Anyway, the DVD packages in that pic look to be of manufactured quality. I would guess they were mass produced by such an outfit.
