My faith has been restored. This episode was great. I think the Pilot was the worst; they've been getting steadily better since then. Next week's episode looks good, although...

I didn't like the pilot, so I didn't see much reason to. I've heard so many mixed things. Maybe I'll give it another shot.

Didn't like this episode much at all. Next week's episode might be it for me.

"Dollhouse" gained nearly a million viewers from last week, making it the highest rated episode since the pilot:
Episode 1 - 4.72 million
Episode 2 - 4.2 million
Episode 3 - 4.1 million
Episode 4 - 3.5 million (the Watchmen effect)
Episode 5 - 4.42 million
*Keep in mind, the DVR numbers released so far (for episodes one and two) have increased the ratings about 30%.

This week was pretty good. I'm certainly anxious for the seasonal arc to start moving more quickly - and next week's episode looks to be headed in that direction. I'm not worried about an encounter between Echo and the FBI agent so soon since Wheedon has done such encounters in Buffy before without ruining the season's flow. If anything, I expect this encounter will further push Echo to further "see perfectly."

Good to see the numbers go back to over 4M viewers. It still sucks though. I wonder if this show would have had higher numbers if it was paired with 24 as originally planned.

This episode was good, but it felt too generic: too much like other investigator shows.
It felt too constrained, too..... conventional..... like it was in a strait-jacket. When are the episodes Whedon had control over going to air?

I'm confused with some statements here mentioning Whedon-controlled episodes. Isn't he the head writer and Showrunner as well as creator? Why would he not have control over the episodes that have aired. All I know is he was asked by the network to re-work the pilot, which most of you expressed that you hated.

Eliza stated that the episodes really started to work well with episode 6 on and that the networks finally stopped interfering and let Joss do his thing the way he wanted. Tivo showed this as episode 107 for me as well so perhaps this is one of the ones she was referring. Thought it was interesting that the one Dollhouse guy tried to kill Echo. Cant wait for the showdown with him and her handler.

I took it that he was trying to kill her, but it didn't make a lot of sense for him to shoot the guy who was about to kill her only to knock her out to die in the fire.

I agree. Didn't he say 'Trouble ends here' when he knocked her out. I think he was trying to get rid of her because he thinks she will become another Alpha, but the director won't let him. By having her suffocate in the fire, everyone would think it was an accident.
