Anyone else miss ARNIE Blockbuster Action movies ?
I remember the days when every year or two there would be a new Arnie blockbuster hitting the cinemas. Full of cheesy one liners, questionable acting, but undeniably entertaining
We just don't seem to have action heros anymore. Stallone, Arnie, Van Damme, Segal are all past it. Vin Diesel, the Rock and others haven't quite gotten there. Hollywood has ruined Jackie and Jet. The closest for me is Jason Stratham.
Sure we have mindblowing FX orientated superhero action movies which i love, but no real action heros.
Who would like to see Arnie return for 1 last hurrah ?

I think it'd be pretty hard for Ah-nuld to reclaim the magic he had during his prime

I doubt Arnold will be back. BUT were he to come back, the only man to give him a great comeback or sendoff to Cinema would be James Cameron..
EDIT: Fuck, I've been watching too many films with John Cameron's work...Yes, I meant James Cameron..

I think he really needs to reteam with either Jerry McTiernan, Joe Milius, or Pete Verhoeven, really. He's done entirely too many films with John Cameron, and I'd like to see him spread his wings a bit.
Of course, the last thing we need is another lame, belabored "comedy" reunion with Igor Reitman.

Arnold could still do True Lies 2 a la Indy 4 without the space aliens. That's better than him being paired with a young sidekick.
Jason Statham? He's kind of a posable prop instead of an actor, isn't he?

Absolutely! I grew up on those movies. Still watch them and love them!
There was John McTiernan, Joel Silver, Jan de Bont and Steven Desuza working on all of those movies together. You could also throw in Shane Black and Richard Donner and maybe Renny Harlin for his few. And, and, and ... I know I'm forgetting some.
That group seemed to have been replaced by Bruckheimer and his group of guys.
Powerful heroes died out a bit. More than Joel Silver's group, I'd say bold heroes are what I really miss. I'd say that Robert Rodriguez (and, to a lesser extent, Tarantino with Kill Bill) is currently the best at doing them. Michael Bay is pretty good at doing them. The Matrix had em'. Vin Diesel can almost pull it off ... and could pull it off with the correct material. The Rock can do it; but is off doing kid movies and stuff. Off the top of my head, I can't think of any others.

But I've come to accept that the late 80's Ah-nuld action/hero movies aren't very common anymore (save for "The Marine"...how is that BTW?) and I know that The Rock isn't going to pick up the action star torch like I had hoped he would.

Sad that that lousy Around the World in 80 Days remake was his last effort. It'd be great to see him do one last great action film to really end his career right. Something with a great old-scool action director like McTiernan or John Cameron.

The Condemned reminded me alot of the 80s big action flicks. I see no reason why Arnold couldn't slip back in to the action movie genre. There's probably dozens of scenarios that would fit his age. Take many of the late in life Bronson or Eastwood movies and crank up the octane. He's also be a great villian.

Good riddance. The 1980's were possibly the worst decade for films ever, and seeing the names of dinosaurs like Stallone, Schwarzenegger (the first Terminator excluded) and Seagal only reminds me of those shallow, artistically bankrupt dark ages.
