Gears of War 2 Discussion Thread

http://previews.teamxbox.com/xbox-36...s-of-War-2/p1/

I've taken a slight break from the 360 but I am set on Gears2 like countless millions. Over at Teamxbox they have a "Hands-On" preview of the MP mode of GW2. Though they're limited on just what they can say at this point they did rave about one mode of MP called "Horde". Basically calling it a old school arcade version of Berserker.

In it you and friends (up to six) are confined to a small map and must repel wave after wave progressing thru a total of (50) levels. Each level more difficult than before. You're face with watching each others back, reviving, replinishing ammo, using shields while holding the ground.

They're saying this is one of the best inovative modes in a long time while keeping a central part of Gears, teamplay, intact. There are four other new modes as well which include; Submission, Wingman, Guardian and King Of The Hill (was on Windows)

Kotaku has a breakdown of Horde mode as well as some other Gears 2 features. Something notable, unlockables based on your Gears 1 game save and how far you got in the game. Pretty cool.

I've been on the fence about picking this up, but with the exclusive maps, and Horde mode, I think I'm in.

That article was way overwritten, but sounds like good stuff. Apparently they are unaware that Horde mode was something Epic did years ago with UT as well (there it was called "Invasion").

Invasion was awesome. But it was normal levels. I think the idea of smaller levels will add some coolness

Thanks for reminding me on this. I saw it last week but couldn't remember which store. I need those bonus points anyways.

Quick question, is the only four player mode, Horde Mode? Or will you be able to go through the campaign with four people?

I forgot where I read it but the article implied the former and wasn't real clear.

Early on, I read that co-op mode would be four player. Not sure if that is still true, though.

Do you have to have four in Horde?

Paid this off today with trade-ins....so pumped for it. I love that it comes out on a Friday, too.

The description of that mode doesn't seem that innovative. Games have done the surviving waves of enemies thing for ages. Not that it won't be fun or anything, but I don't see how it's anything unique.

As the description applies, combo of old school Berserker and arcade. Throw in a total of (50) levels with each more difficult than the one before and with(6 players) at one time. Playing co-op with two or four is one thing but something like this will satisfy a quick rush.

I know in UT3 you can have up to six or more playing co-op but that's on levels, nothing like this.
