Not sure if this is a sale or a price reduction, but Amazon.com has the DVD, HD-DVD, and Blu-ray versions of Planet Earth now for $54.95 (it used to be around $66, I think)

I just ordered it from Best Buy last night for $54.99. Just 2 days ago it was listed for $59.99 and backordered. I figured that would be a tough price to beat for Blu-Ray, and I had $50+ in gift cards, so even with tax and shipping I paid less than $10 out of pocket.
It does specifically state this this price is online only:

If you get it through Amazon's warehousedeals, you can pick up the HD-DVD version for $8.xx plus shipping. It's usually out of stock but I was able to snag one over the weekend. Typically, the set is only missing the plastic outerwrap.

Is it true that this title is not working for some on the PS3? I ended up ordering it on Blu bc of the case and the fact that an HD set would probably arrive with some lose/scratched discs and the Blu coating is better.
I just want to make sure it will actually work on the PS3.

Just the HD-DVD version, but Amazon.com has dropped it to $44.49:
Planet Earth [HD DVD] - David Attenborough version
(Not sure how long this will last given Amazon's yo-yo pricing habits)

It's worth the extra money to get the version with the great, towering pioneer of nature documentaries.

ALSO NOTE! The Blu-ray version does NOT contain the "Planet Earth Diaries" that are featured after each episode on the SD DVDs. You may not care, but you should know. This footage is usually 10 minutes long and shows how the crew shot various parts of the episode. They are quite fascinating and a GLARING omission on the Blu-ray set (they could have at least put them on there in SD!).

From my latest Buest Buy thread:
$$$$ Purchase Planet Earth online at Bestbuy.com / Planet Earth and get the Set for $49.99 // URL is unavailable at moment and would seem to apply to Blu-Ray or HD-DVD version but I won’t know for sure until URL is active

I think Amazon.UK still has it in Blu-Ray for around $34-ish, shipped.

IMO, getting the Sigourney Weaver version of Planet Earth instead of the David Attenborough version is like getting the Gus Van Sant version of Psycho instead of the Hitchcock version.
