F.Y.E. Membership?

Can you just go to a store and ask to be a member or do you have to purchase something? Do they give you a card right away or just a membership number? Thanks!

You can purchase the membership and get the card in-store.

I've had the discount for 2 years running and made a conscious decision to visit an FYE on my birthday. Both years, I managed to forget. Bah.

This year kinda sucked - My birthday was Thanksgiving.

I wonder if they'll still give me my discount now?

They also give you the 20% off on the day you sign up, at least they did for me.

Anyone else getting the wrong sales tax charged to them on FYE.com? They have charged me 7.5% even though my state sales tax (NC) is only 6.75% at the moment with no local taxes either.

I tried to email them and ask but I keep getting generic emails back saying that "no further response will be given" and to go to the help section on their site (with no link at all in the email) and when I fill that out, they send me ANOTHER generic email saying no one will answer this email! Aarggh!

This, after I just got charged for one of their "free" magazines that I canceled as soon as the second of the two free issues came two days AFTER they charge my card and you have to go through this ridiculous tree of recorded options and still can't find a person to talk to unless you just hit "0" all the time and ignore their recording.

Between the lousy, high prices they charge and all this other crap, this store really is awful and I won't be renewing my membership (um, I *do* get to decide if I renew it or not, right? They don't just automatically bill me like the sleaze they are, do they?)

^

I believe that they charge sales tax on the total before the 10% BS discount is applied.

Well, that probably explains it then, thanks. (I don't like that they do that, either.)
