Troy Director's Cut: Anybody "Double-Dipping"?

Not technically a double-dip I guess... I got the theatrical version the day it came out on HD DVD & it is a very nice looking disc. But I don't know if I like the movie enough to buy it again, even if the DC might be better. I'm on the fence right now, & would like to see a few yea or nays either way.

Luckily, I haven't picked up the original yet, so I won't have to double dip on the new version. Even so, I'm going to wait and get it in the BEST OF BLU-RAY: ACTION box set (coming out on November 6th). The set includes TROY: DIRECTOR'S CUT, ALEXANDER REVISITED, BLOOD DIAMOND and WYATT EARP. Amazon should have it for around $60, and it might be even cheaper at the Warner Bros store with a coupon.

I didn't buy the original in HD (SD only back in the day) so I plan on picking this up. Not sure I would get it again if I'd already put down the $$$ on the HD version.

I still haven't opened my original DVD from when it came out, so this will have to wait.

I have the theatrical cut on both DVD & HD DVD, and i'll definately be grabbing the new cut on HD DVD. I enjoyed the theatrical cut and i'm sure the new version will only be better.

Ditto, I enjoyed this movie far more than most, and I'll add a third copy to my collection.

I am. Troy's a great movie and I can only imagine the DC being better. I might keep the regular version for the IME.

Might duoble dip and keep the original for comparison. I actually like owning different cuts of movies so I can show people the benefit of DVD editions like this one.

Definitely getting either the HD or SD version of the Director's Cut. Enough good reviews of it have convinced me it will surpass the theatrical in quality as a film. Certainly this was true of Kingdom of Heaven. I'll probably sell off my copy of the theatrical cut too.

I've never seen any version of this, but have heard enough good things that I decided to blind buy the director's cut on HD-DVD...

I wouldn't really consider it a double dip. I do have it pre-ordered.

Just curious, but is there any difference content-wise between the HD version and the Ultimate version on SD?

Yes. I am. I commented on this very thing in another post. I'm getting the Ultimate Collector's Edition and the HD DVD Director's Cut. I really like the blue color of the SD DVD UCE version. Btw, I got it for $22.46 with a few other HD DVDs on Warner Bros' website.

I bought the original on SD. I've preordered the HD-DVD from Warner's site, so I'm pretty stoked about that.

Sold the original SD when I purchased the theatrical version on HD. I'll be acquiring this extended cut on HD-DVD as well.

I'll be getting it. I enjoyed the movie and the promise of increased violence alone was enough to get me interested. Works every time...

The music change for the Achilles / Hector fight is disappointing since the original was pretty awesome as is. Not every fight scene needs a massive, epic score.

Thanks... I'm an HD whore so I ended up ordering the DC BD. The DVD Talk review of the SD DC said that colors are much more vibrant, so that also helped sway me.

Yeah, I didn't see the original cut of Troy, but the SD review has me seriously considering the DC on either format.

I had the original on HD DVD and sold it, but haven't decided on the new version. I'll have to read the reviews and see if it seems a big improvement.

I held off the HD version because by the time I got into HD 10 months ago, there were already rumblings of this version. I have the SD and am one of the few people who fucking loved this movie. I was 'Troy' a few times in theatres and have watched it a few times on disc, so this director's cut is a no brainer for me... I can't wait for Tuesday!

This was my favorite part in the theatrical version. Loved the background music. I really like the theatrical cut, but I'll probably add this version as well.
