RE: Upcoming Terminator Lenticular Re-release.

I can't seem to find any information regarding the extras to be featured on this new release. Does anyone know if it will contain the same extras as the holo-foil release from years ago? If it does, I'm sold just on the cover alone.

Upcoming June 5 Lenticular Edition:

No way is packaging alone going to get me to buy a movie.

Special features? They'd have to be pretty significant, and interesting to be a factor.

What matters most to me is the video and audio quality of the movie itself.

I bet it's the same as the previous two SE Terminator releases, just a new cover. This is being released to probably have people start thinking about Terminator 4.

Since T4 is nothing more than a plan/dream at this point (and would likely have nothing to do with Fox or MGM), it would be more likely a tickler for the Sarah Connor Chronicles.

But since that isn't planned to air until early 2008, this seems a bit early for any sort of promotion. More likely than not, this is being released for the exact same reason the other Fox/MGM properties are being released with new packaging -- to try to squeeze just a few more pennies from people before the inevitable switch to HD.

There really should be a law banning any further releases of Terminator or Evil Dead films.

Can we at least allow a loophole for an Army of Darkness "Book of the Dead" edition?

But, the last didn't have the special features that the 2001 edition did. It was a crap bare-bones release.

I bought the holo-foil cover version of the last Terminator SE release from MGM because I had heard it was limited (how limited was it really?). Bad thing about it was that it was a fliipper. Maybe with this re-release they'll chuck the full-screen version (I think that was what was on the reverse side) and fit all the extras (weren't they split over both sides) on the one side, and add some nice disc art.

Oh no! The flip side was the extras! I really like that version of Terminator--if this is just a re-release of that fine, then it's back in print, or even better, a 2-discer instead of the DVD-14. But I have no problems with the '01 DVD-14.

And I think the cover sucks--The Terminator is all about Schwarzenegger wearing Gargoyles and holding that gun, no ifs ands or buts.

If the flipper was converted to two discs, with a lenticular cover added to sweeten the deal, I don't think I would be able to resist this. But if the cover is all that's unique about this... must resist... must resist....

They should just add a year to the release date, like Madden games.

Not knowing that it was an MGM re-released in a lenticular slipcase.. I immediately bought this.. but as soon as arrive home.. as I pull out the DVD.. what???

Its the same as the MGM Special edition... geez Id rather return it and would just stick with the HOLOFOIL Limited edition.

By the way.. Is this a Circuit City Exclusive? I cant find any slipcase like this in other stores

No way would I EVER buy something just to get new packaging. These DVD's just sit on a shelf with the spines showing anyway - at least for 99% of us - just look at the "Post pics of your DVD collection" thread to see the truth of this statement. A few people display "special DVD's" with the coverart showing, but only those people who have lots of shelf space and/or not many DVD's.

i can't believe these lenticular releases are even considered new packaging. they're the same dvd case, but with a cheap, cardboard slipcase over it that has a lenticular sticker on it. lame.

So wait a minute...is this the DVD-14 from 2001 with a new hat, er, package?
Or is it split into 2 discs?

Not only that, the helmet doesn't cover his whole face, and the face is plastered over the neck like it's a sticker someone put over the image...it's just altogether bad.

Better to wait for the limited edition 2-disc steelbook release coming in August.
